The best IKEA furniture deals in 2026 start around $24 to $50 for small tables, shelves, lighting, storage accessories, and basic chairs. But the real deal is not the cheapest tag on the shelf. It is the piece that still makes sense after delivery, assembly, anchoring, tax, hardware, room clearance, and replacement risk are counted.
On our job sites, we judge IKEA furniture the same way we judge any owner-supplied material: Does it fit the room, solve a real problem, assemble cleanly, stay safe under daily use, and avoid creating work later? A $49 shelf can become a $175 project once you add delivery, assembly, anchors, and lost time. A $349 chair bed can be a smart guest-room solution, or it can be an expensive compromise if it blocks a closet, egress window, or HVAC return.
IKEA U.S. is currently promoting deals including 10% off select sleeper sofas and sofa beds, 15% off select desk, office, and gaming chairs, and 15% off select KALLAX shelving through August 2, 2026. IKEA’s U.S. lowest-price category also has hundreds of items, so there is enough inventory depth to furnish useful spaces without chasing gimmicks. The 11 picks below are the deals we would actually consider for a real home, with contractor notes on total installed cost and when to skip them.
How We Judge an IKEA Deal Like a Contractor
Our first filter is simple: the furniture has to earn its footprint. In a working home, every piece competes with doors, stairs, outlets, vents, baseboards, windows, radiators, walking paths, and future repairs. Low-cost furniture that blocks access or fails after one move is not cheap.

Before buying anything large, measure the finished room and the delivery path. That means door openings, stair turns, elevator depth, ceiling height, baseboard projection, outlet locations, window cranks, closet doors, and the swing of the room door. For storage furniture, also check whether the wall is drywall over studs, plaster, masonry, or a wall with plumbing or electrical risks.
For cost, use this quick formula: product price plus delivery plus assembly plus anchors and hardware plus tax plus accessories. IKEA U.S. delivery has real impact on value. Standard delivery and scheduled doorstep delivery can start around $29 for IKEA Family members in many areas, scheduled in-home delivery can start around $59, and express in-home delivery can start around $69. Delivery availability and pricing can change by ZIP code, item weight, order size, distance, and membership status. IKEA also requires at least a $35 merchandise subtotal for delivery, and orders over 50 lb do not qualify for small-order delivery. Orders over 500 lb require scheduled or express in-home delivery where available.
Assembly matters too. Taskrabbit reports the average U.S. IKEA assembly booking is $164, with a $52 minimum and flat-rate per-item pricing. Example item prices include about $53.30 for a KALLAX shelving unit with two doors, $65 for a BESTA TV bench with doors, $67.60 for a STORKLINTA 6-drawer dresser, $78 for a BRIMNES 3-door wardrobe, $87.10 for a MALM queen storage bed frame, $167.70 for a PAX wardrobe combination, and $174.20 for a HEMNES daybed. If your time is limited or the piece has drawers, hinges, sliding parts, or wall anchoring, assembly is part of the real price.

The 11 Best IKEA Furniture Deals to Shop From About $24
1. Small Side Tables and Nightstands From About $24-$50
This is where IKEA still wins cleanly. A small table, bedside surface, or compact nightstand in the $24 to $50 range can solve a real problem without triggering a major project. These are best when you can pick them up in store or bundle them into a larger delivery order, because paying $29 or more to deliver one $24 table weakens the deal.
Use these in guest bedrooms, kids’ rooms, dorm-style spaces, rental units, and living rooms where you need a lamp, book, or drink surface. Keep expectations realistic. A lightweight table is not a bench, ladder, printer stand, or tool platform. If the piece feels flexible when assembled, put it where it carries light loads only.
Contractor check: place felt pads under legs on hardwood, tighten fasteners after the first week, and keep particleboard edges away from wet mops, humid basement walls, and drink spills. Moisture is the quickest way to turn a bargain into swollen panels.
2. KALLAX Shelving With 15% Off Select Units
KALLAX is one of the better IKEA values because it works in several rooms: playrooms, craft spaces, home offices, mudrooms, and closet overflow. With select KALLAX shelving discounted 15% through August 2, 2026, it is worth checking if the size you need is included in your local store or delivery area.

A smaller unit may land near the low hundreds after tax and accessories. A larger setup with doors, drawers, baskets, delivery, and Taskrabbit assembly can move into the $200 to $500 range quickly. Taskrabbit’s example price for KALLAX shelving with two doors is about $53.30, before delivery and tax.
Anchor tall or child-accessible KALLAX units. The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s AnchorIt campaign continues to warn that unsecured furniture and TVs are a hidden household hazard, especially for children who climb. We prefer anchoring during assembly, before the room is loaded with bins and toys. Photograph the wall first, mark studs with painter’s tape, and use the manufacturer’s anchoring points with structure-appropriate fasteners.
3. Basic Open Bookcases for Office and Guest-Room Storage
A simple IKEA bookcase can be a strong value in the $50 to $129 range when the load is moderate and the room is dry. It is best for paperbacks, display storage, folded linens, office supplies, and lighter household items. It is not our first choice for a full wall of heavy textbooks, record collections, or garage storage.

Installed cost often lands around $130 to $275 after delivery, anchoring hardware, and assembly if you do not pick it up yourself. That is still reasonable if it keeps clutter off the floor and avoids a custom shelving project.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Before buying, check the wall and floor. If the floor slopes more than about 1/4 inch over the width of the bookcase, plan for leveling and shimming. If the wall is plaster, masonry, or has unknown utilities, do not guess with random drywall anchors. Tall storage should be fastened to studs, blocking, masonry, or manufacturer-approved anchor locations.
4. Desk Chairs With 15% Off Select Office and Gaming Models
IKEA’s 15% off select desk, office, and gaming chairs through August 2, 2026 is one of the more practical sale categories because home offices have become permanent rooms in many houses. A $79 to $249 chair can be a good buy for hybrid work, homework stations, and secondary desks.
The important test is fit. Seat height should let your feet rest flat, your elbows land near desk height, and your back stay supported without pushing your shoulders forward. For a standard 29- to 30-inch-high desk, many adults need a chair with an adjustable seat roughly in the 17- to 22-inch range. If the chair is fixed-height, sit in it before buying.
Skip the cheap chair if you work from home full time and already have back, hip, or neck issues. In that case, a commercial-grade ergonomic chair may cost more upfront but can be the better value. Also check the floor surface. Casters that are fine on carpet can scratch softer wood floors unless you use the right mat or replacement wheels.
5. BESTA TV Bench for Cleaner Media Walls
BESTA can be a good deal when you need a cleaner media setup without custom cabinetry. A TV bench with doors may cost roughly $100 to $300 or more depending on size and finish, with Taskrabbit example assembly around $65. Delivery and accessories can push the real installed price higher.
This is one of the categories where planning matters more than the discount. Measure the TV width, viewing height, outlet location, cable path, router position, game console ventilation, and HVAC return locations. Do not cover an outlet you may need later, and do not trap heat around electronics.
If a TV is involved, treat anchoring as part of the project. The CPSC continues to urge homeowners to anchor TVs and furniture because tip-over incidents can be severe. For a media wall, we like to mark stud locations before assembly and plan cable openings before the unit is full. If you want BESTA to look built in, budget for scribing, trim returns, filler panels, and paint matching. That carpentry can cost more than the cabinet itself, but it is what makes the installation look intentional.
6. Under-$50 Storage Accessories That Finish the Job
Bins, baskets, drawer organizers, hooks, shoe trays, and small shelves are often the best IKEA deals because they make existing storage work harder. The mistake is buying accessories first and measuring later.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Measure the clear inside width, depth, and height of the closet, cabinet, shelf, or pantry bay before shopping. A bin that is 13 inches deep does not help if the shelf is 11-1/2 inches deep. In closets, leave hand clearance above each bin so the storage is usable, not just full.

These small items are best bundled with larger orders because delivery minimums and fees can erase the savings. They are also a good place to use IKEA Family pricing, local As-Is finds, and last-chance deals. Just be careful with last-chance items if you need matching bins or add-ons later; replacement parts and matching finishes can become difficult when a product line is ending.
7. Small Dining Chairs and Utility Chairs
A basic chair in the $25 to $80 range can be a real deal for breakfast nooks, craft rooms, homework tables, rental units, and occasional seating. The value comes from buying the right quantity and avoiding overbuilding a low-use space.
For dining, allow about 24 inches of table width per chair and at least 36 inches behind the chair for a comfortable pullout path where possible. In tighter kitchens, 30 inches can work but feels constrained. If the chair arms hit the table apron or the seat is too low for the tabletop, the deal fails no matter how cheap it was.
Recommended Free Tools
Check wobble on your actual floor. Many older homes have uneven kitchens and breakfast areas. If a chair rocks badly, floor protectors and minor leveling may help, but a flexible frame will not improve with age.
8. STORKLINTA 6-Drawer Dresser for Budget Bedroom Storage
A dresser is not just a box with drawers. It is a tall, loaded, frequently opened piece of furniture that must stay stable. Taskrabbit’s example assembly price for a STORKLINTA 6-drawer dresser is about $67.60, and anchoring should be planned from the start.
This can be a good bedroom deal when the drawers run smoothly, the room is dry, and the dresser can be secured to the wall. It is a poor choice if the household will not anchor furniture, if children may climb drawers, or if the room has moisture problems.
On our projects, we treat dressers like safety-sensitive installations. We locate studs, use the supplied anti-tip hardware where appropriate, and avoid placing heavy TVs on top unless the manufacturer allows it and the TV is separately secured. Never defeat drawer stops or modify the frame in a way that changes the load path.

BRIMNES can be a practical answer when an older house has shallow closets or no guest-room closet. A 3-door wardrobe often moves the project into the $250 to $450 range before delivery, and Taskrabbit’s example assembly price is about $78.
The first measurement is ceiling height. Leave room to stand the wardrobe upright after assembly; a tall unit assembled flat on the floor needs diagonal clearance. Also measure baseboards, floor slope, door swing, and nearby outlets. A wardrobe that fits on paper can still be miserable if a bedroom door hits it or the floor drops 1/2 inch across the footprint.
Anchor it. Tall wardrobes should not be treated as freestanding permanent fixtures in homes with children, pets, or heavy daily use. If the wall is not plumb, plan shims and scribe gaps rather than forcing the cabinet out of square.

10. PAX Wardrobe Systems When the Dimensions Work
PAX is where IKEA can either save real money or become a half-custom project. A simple wardrobe combination may be a few hundred dollars, while larger closet systems can push into the $1,500-plus range after frames, shelves, drawers, rods, doors, lighting, delivery, assembly, and finish carpentry. Taskrabbit’s example assembly price for a PAX wardrobe combination is about $167.70.

PAX makes sense when the standard frame sizes fit the room with reasonable fillers. It is especially useful for primary bedroom storage, guest-room closets, and reach-in closet upgrades. It is less convincing in damp basements, laundry rooms, mudrooms with wet gear, or wall-to-wall spaces where every inch matters.
If you want a built-in look, plan for blocking, anchoring, trim, scribing, baseboard cuts, and future removal. IKEA can be the carcass, but the finish details are carpentry. If the room is high-moisture, high-traffic, child-heavy, rental-turnover, or must fit wall-to-wall, custom or semi-custom storage often wins over time.
11. IKEA PS 2026 Chair Bed at $349 IKEA Family Price
The IKEA PS 2026 chair bed is a current example of a deal that looks better when it solves a specific room problem. IKEA lists it at a $349 IKEA Family price, down from $399, valid July 7 through August 2, 2026 while supplies last. It fits best in a home office, flex room, teen room, or small guest space where a full sleeper sofa is too large.
Do the real-cost math. A $349 chair bed can become roughly $460 to $620 or more after in-home delivery, tax, assembly if needed, bedding, and a mattress protector or storage solution. That can still be a good value if it prevents buying a larger sofa bed or converting an entire room.
Check the open footprint, not just the closed dimensions. Make sure the bed position does not block the bedroom door, closet, egress window, electrical panel, HVAC return, radiator, or smoke and carbon monoxide alarm sightline. For frequent adult guests, a true bed or higher-quality sleeper may be more appropriate.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Safety, Materials, and Permits Homeowners Should Not Ignore
Most IKEA furniture projects do not require a building permit when you are assembling freestanding furniture. The situation changes when you alter electrical outlets, move HVAC registers, cut into walls, add hardwired lighting, modify structural framing, or create built-ins that affect egress, access panels, or life-safety equipment. Local rules vary, but those are the lines we watch on job sites.
Furniture anchoring is not optional for tall storage, dressers, wardrobes, bookcases, and TV units in child-accessible spaces. The CPSC’s AnchorIt guidance exists because tip-overs happen quickly and quietly. Use the manufacturer’s anti-tip hardware and fasten into studs, blocking, masonry, or another approved substrate. If you cannot identify the wall structure, hire someone who can.
Also respect load limits. KALLAX, BILLY, PAX, BESTA, and wall-mounted units are engineered products with rated uses. Do not overload shelves with heavy books, tools, tile samples, aquariums, or gym weights unless the product is specifically rated for that load. Wall-mounted furniture depends on both the cabinet and the wall connection.
For material safety, composite wood products and finished goods containing hardwood plywood, MDF, or particleboard sold, imported, or manufactured in the U.S. must be TSCA Title VI compliant after March 22, 2019 under EPA formaldehyde emission standards. That does not mean every particleboard product belongs in every room. Avoid placing composite furniture against damp basement walls, in unconditioned garages, or in laundry areas where repeated moisture can swell edges and weaken joints.

When to DIY and When to Hire a Pro
DIY assembly makes sense for simple tables, chairs, small shelves, storage accessories, and low-risk pieces you can comfortably move and square up. Expect 20 to 90 minutes for small furniture if you have a clear floor, good lighting, a #2 Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, adjustable wrench, level, tape measure, painter’s tape, stud finder, and a drill or driver used carefully. Keep the packaging until every panel, hinge, drawer slide, and fastener is verified.
Hire assembly help when the piece is tall, heavy, drawer-heavy, wall-mounted, glass-fronted, or part of a multi-unit system. Taskrabbit’s $52 minimum and $164 average IKEA assembly booking can be money well spent if it prevents damaged panels, crooked drawers, or unsafe anchoring. It is especially reasonable for PAX, BRIMNES, BESTA, HEMNES daybeds, storage beds, and large KALLAX layouts.
Hire a contractor or carpenter when IKEA furniture becomes part of the room rather than just furniture in the room. That includes built-ins, wall-to-wall wardrobes, scribed trim, baseboard modifications, blocking, outlet relocation, hardwired lighting, HVAC conflicts, uneven floors, moisture concerns, and egress constraints. The moment you need the installation to interact with the house, trade judgment matters.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Bottom Line: The Best Deal Is the One That Still Works After Installation
IKEA can still be the lowest-cost path for many rooms, but the margin is not always huge once comparable big-box options, delivery, assembly, and accessories are counted. A 2026 bedroom furnishing comparison found one IKEA sample package at $828.97 versus $865.40 at Lowe’s and $923.43 at Home Depot. That suggests IKEA can win, but smart homeowners should still price the whole project.
For small pieces from $24 to $50, the best deals are side tables, utility chairs, bins, organizers, and lightweight storage that you can pick up or bundle into a larger order. For mid-range deals from about $79 to $349, focus on office chairs, shelving, TV benches, wardrobes, and chair beds that solve a specific room problem. For larger systems from $400 to $1,500-plus, compare IKEA against semi-custom and custom carpentry before committing.
Our rule is straightforward: buy IKEA when the dimensions work, the room is dry, the loads are reasonable, the piece can be anchored correctly, and the finished result solves a real daily problem. Skip it when the project needs moisture resistance, heavy-duty durability, exact wall-to-wall fit, structural changes, or long-term built-in performance. That is how a low price becomes a good home improvement decision instead of another piece of furniture waiting to be replaced.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best IKEA furniture deals under $50 in 2026?
The strongest under-$50 values are small side tables, utility chairs, storage bins, drawer organizers, basic shelves, hooks, and lighting. They are best when picked up in store or bundled with a larger order because delivery fees can erase the savings on a single low-cost item.
How much does IKEA delivery cost in the U.S.?
IKEA U.S. delivery can start around $29 for standard or scheduled doorstep delivery for IKEA Family members, around $59 for scheduled in-home delivery, and around $69 for express in-home delivery. Pricing varies by ZIP code, order size, weight, distance, and membership status.
How much does IKEA furniture assembly cost through Taskrabbit?
Taskrabbit reports the average U.S. IKEA assembly booking is $164, with a $52 minimum. Example flat-rate assembly prices include about $53.30 for KALLAX shelving with two doors, $65 for a BESTA TV bench with doors, $78 for a BRIMNES 3-door wardrobe, and $167.70 for a PAX wardrobe combination.
Do IKEA dressers, bookcases, and wardrobes need to be anchored?
Tall storage, dressers, wardrobes, bookcases, and TV units should be anchored, especially in homes with children. Use the manufacturer’s anti-tip hardware and fasten into studs, blocking, masonry, or another approved wall structure rather than relying on random drywall anchors.
Can IKEA furniture be used for built-ins?
Yes, IKEA can work as the cabinet carcass when the dimensions fit the space. For a built-in look, budget for anchoring, blocking, filler panels, scribing, trim returns, baseboard modifications, and paint matching. In damp, high-traffic, or exact-fit spaces, custom or semi-custom carpentry often performs better.

Do IKEA furniture projects require a permit?
Basic freestanding furniture assembly usually does not require a permit. Permits or licensed trades may be needed if the project moves outlets, changes HVAC, adds hardwired lighting, cuts into walls, alters framing, blocks egress, or affects electrical panels, smoke alarms, or other safety systems.
