The best heavy-duty kitchen scissors depend on what you need to cut. For herbs, packaging, and everyday prep, choose general-purpose kitchen shears; for poultry joints, bones, or tougher meat, choose a model whose manufacturer explicitly names those jobs. “Heavy duty” is not a standardized performance grade, and the product claims below are manufacturer specifications—not independent comparative test results.

Kitchen shears or poultry shears: what is the difference?
Kitchen shears are a broad category, often suited to routine food preparation. Poultry shears are presented for more specific work, such as trimming or cutting through joints during poultry breakdown. Some general-purpose models also advertise a notched blade for poultry bones, but that feature does not make every pair suitable for every bone or joint.
