Both manufacturers list compatibility with steam generators as well as ordinary steam or traditional irons, but their iron supports, height specifications and storage details differ.

Which board gives you more usable surface?
Brabantia D: more length for long pieces
Brabantia lists the D’s working surface as 135 × 45 cm. It is 5 cm longer than the Minky Heritage, which may appeal if you often reposition shirts, trousers or other longer garments along the board. Brabantia says its shoulder shape and pointed end help with shirt ironing, and markets the width as enough to iron a shirt in one go. That is the manufacturer’s claim, not a verified performance result.
Minky Heritage: more width for broad items
The Heritage’s listed surface is 130 × 47 cm, making it 2 cm wider than the Brabantia D. That extra width may be useful for bedding or broad garments, while its shorter listed surface means it is not the longer option. The practical difference depends on what you iron and how you arrange it; neither set of dimensions alone establishes that one board is better for every task.

Will your iron or steam generator fit?
Compatibility with a steam generator does not by itself tell you whether the base will sit comfortably on the board’s support. Check the support design and the dimensions of your appliance before buying.
- Brabantia D: Brabantia lists use with steam irons and steam generators and specifies an integrated heat-resistant parking zone. The product page does not give a maximum base size for that zone.
- Minky Heritage: Minky lists compatibility with traditional irons and steam generators and includes an adjustable iron rest. The product page does not state a maximum supported base size.
If your steam generator has a large separate base, compare its footprint with the support area and consult the manufacturer if fit is unclear. The stated compatibility should not be taken as proof that every appliance size will fit.

Compare working height with your preferred position
The Brabantia D has a stated adjustment range of 79–102 cm. Minky says the Heritage adjusts up to 90 cm but does not state the minimum height on its product page. If your preferred ironing position is near the top of the range, Brabantia provides a higher published maximum; if you need a low setting, compare the actual minimums rather than assuming Minky’s range.
When possible, compare the listed height with the board’s working surface at the setting you use, and check the manual for setup details. A higher maximum does not guarantee a comfortable position for every user.

Check the folded board against your storage space
A wide working surface can mean a substantial folded board. Minky provides explicit open and closed dimensions: open dimensions are 157 × 47 × 90 cm with the rest fully open and the board at maximum height; closed dimensions are 152 × 47 × 9 cm. Its listed net weight is 7.1 kg.
Brabantia lists the D at 6.8 kg and gives product dimensions of 163.5 × 47 × 8.5 cm. Because the product page does not make the measurement orientation clear for storage comparison, confirm the folded dimensions and iron-support position in the manual before checking whether it fits a cupboard or utility space.

- Wider surface for a crisper, faster press — The 18 x 57-inch board has a 47-inch usable ironing area, so you finish dress shirts, slacks, and bedsheets in fewer passes. Less repositioning, smoother glide, sharper creases on every garment.
- Heat- and scorch-resistant 3-layer cover protects delicate fabrics — A fabric, foam, and felt pad withstands up to 280°C (536°F), shielding silks, wool, and linen from burns under high heat. Wire-mesh base lets steam through to dry clothes faster.
- Wall-mount hanger reclaims closet space — Bracket included for vertical, space-saving storage in apartments and small homes. The fold-out garment rail keeps freshly pressed shirts and suit jackets wrinkle-free; lower tray stacks finished laundry.
- Built for professionals, families, and small spaces — Built-in iron rest cradles a hot iron between strokes, cord holder lifts the cable aside, and anti-skid feet plant the board on hardwood, tile, or carpet. Works with standard household irons.
- Full metal construction, height adjustable 30 to 36 inches — Powder-coated steel frame holds 60 lbs without bowing, with cross-axle stability and multi-step adjustment for seated or standing use. Folds flat; cover is removable and machine washable.

Minky Heritage

How the Brabantia C compares
The Brabantia Ironing Board C is a smaller context option, not one of the two extra-wide boards compared above. An Ideal Home 2026 ironing-board guide lists the standard C at 124 × 45 cm, with a 75–98 cm height range and 7.7 kg weight. The guide says the standard C is designed for a steam iron rather than a steam generator, while a separate C variant has a generator holder. Confirm the exact variant before purchase.
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Brabantia D if you want the longer listed surface, a higher stated maximum working height, or a defined heat-resistant parking zone—and its storage dimensions suit your space.
- Choose the Minky Heritage if the extra 2 cm of width, adjustable iron rest, hanger rail or clearly stated closed dimensions are more useful to you.
- Pause and measure first if you use a steam generator with a large base, need a particular standing height, or have a tight storage location. Check the exact model’s support and folded measurements rather than relying on the term “extra wide.”
