For a powered campsite or a suitably rated inverter, a 120V kettle is an option; for a vehicle, a 12V travel kettle may suit small servings. A battery-connected 12V kettle is a different setup again and can require a dedicated fused connection. Check the connection and electrical ratings before choosing by capacity or packed size.
Start with the power source, not the kettle size
Electric kettles do not all connect to camp power in the same way. A household-style 120V model needs an appropriate AC outlet or another AC source whose output is explicitly suitable for the kettle. A 12V model with a car adapter is intended for a different connection. A battery-connected 12V design may draw more current than a vehicle accessory socket or adapter is designed to handle.
Do not assume that a kettle will work with any campsite outlet, vehicle, inverter, or power station because the voltage appears to match. Check the appliance rating against the power source’s output rating and follow both manuals. The cited product pages do not establish compatibility with every vehicle or portable power unit.

Which type fits your camping setup?
For a powered campsite or verified AC source
The Midea foldable kettle is a 0.7 L, 600 W, 120V option with a collapsible base and foldable handle. It may be a practical format when you have an AC supply, but folding features do not make it compatible with a 12V vehicle outlet. If using an inverter or power station, verify that its output supports the kettle’s electrical requirements before connecting it.
The Chefman RJ11-12 is a larger, household-style alternative at 1.2 L and 1500 W/120 V. Its capacity may better suit several servings, but the higher wattage makes checking the AC source especially important.

For small servings from a vehicle connection
The LePresso is rated 12V and 96W and comes with a DC car adapter. At 300 mL, it is intended for a modest amount of hot water rather than a full group’s drinks. Its manufacturer lists three temperature options—45°C, 55°C, and 100°C—and boil-dry protection. Confirm that the actual vehicle connection and the kettle’s instructions are suitable for the way you plan to use it.
For a dedicated battery connection
The Hardkorr HKC12VKTL-1L illustrates why “12V kettle” is not enough information to judge compatibility. Its manufacturer specifies up to 14A draw and an Anderson-style connection with a 20A fuse or larger; it warns not to use a cigarette-lighter-to-Anderson adapter. Those instructions are specific to this model and are not a general wiring guide. Hardkorr marks the kettle discontinued, so treat it as a technical example rather than a currently available recommendation unless you independently confirm stock.

What to check before buying
- Connection: Identify whether the kettle uses 120V AC, a 12V DC car adapter, or a battery connection such as Anderson. These are not interchangeable.
- Power draw: Match the appliance’s voltage and wattage or current requirements to the supply’s stated output. Do not infer compatibility from a plug fitting.
- Capacity: The models listed range from 300 mL to 1.2 L. A larger capacity does not, by itself, show how quickly a kettle will heat water.
- Portability: Compare packed shape and connection hardware as well as capacity. Midea lists a collapsible base and foldable handle; the other product pages provide their own model-specific details.
- Safety features and instructions: Check the exact model’s shut-off, boil-dry protection, fuse, and connection requirements rather than assuming every electric kettle has the same safeguards.
- Availability: Confirm that the named model and regional version are currently sold. The Hardkorr page identifies its model as discontinued.
How long does a 12V kettle take to boil?
Heating time depends on the specific kettle, amount of water, and power conditions; voltage alone does not predict speed. Hardkorr reports 35 minutes for 1 L, 32 minutes for 800 mL, 26 minutes for 600 mL, and 24 minutes for 200 mL for the HKC12VKTL-1L, based on a fully charged LiFePO4 battery. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results, and that model is discontinued. They illustrate the trade-off a low-power 12V setup can involve compared with a household kettle, but they are not a head-to-head comparison.

If you need one small serving and have a suitable vehicle connection, a 12V travel kettle such as the LePresso is the closest match among these examples. If you want more water or faster heating, consider an AC kettle only when you have a verified compatible source. For any battery-connected design, follow the exact model’s wiring and fuse instructions; do not substitute an accessory-socket adapter where the manufacturer prohibits it.
