LG Craft Ice: automatic spheres with limited daily output
LG USA Support says the feature can be set to produce either three or six spheres per day, in batches of three, and that its bin holds about 20 to 25 spheres. These support-page figures are not a guarantee for every model or household condition. The page also notes that settings, water supply, and home conditions affect shape and clarity. That output may suit occasional drinks, but it is not a high-volume supply for a party. Consider how many spheres you need at once, how far ahead you can let the bin fill, and whether the refrigerator’s other features and dimensions make sense for your kitchen. The ice feature should be evaluated as part of the full appliance purchase.

Manual molds: the flexible route to sphere ice
LG’s consumer guidance discusses directional freezing with an ice-ball mold and a small cooler as a way to make clearer-looking spheres. The method uses the freezer rather than an automatic ice-making mechanism, so it trades convenience for flexibility and lower equipment commitment. LG’s guidance does not establish that every mold, or any particular model, reliably produces clear spheres.
- Choose a mold whose sphere size, batch count, and dimensions fit your drinks and freezer.

What to know about clarity and slow melting
Neither a sphere shape nor a clear appearance is guaranteed. LG says clarity and shape can vary with settings, water supply, and home conditions, and notes that early batches may be cloudy or imperfect. If clear-looking ice matters more than automatic production, a manual directional-freezing setup is an option, but the cited guidance does not validate a particular mold’s results.
LG Canada describes Craft Ice as “slow-melting spherical ice for party cocktails & high-end liquors.” Its product page also describes an internal comparison using ice balls of approximately 69 g in cold water at about 9.5°C, with a room temperature of 25°C; it states a cold-water capacity of 121 cc and warns that results may vary with environmental conditions.
