A compact cordless screwdriver can make flat-pack assembly and routine home fixes easier on your hands, but the right choice depends on control, access and the screws you expect to drive. For furniture and small fasteners, prioritize a comfortable grip and manageable torque over the biggest torque figure; for repeated heavy work or larger screws, choose a drill-driver instead.
Best cordless screwdrivers for flat-pack furniture and small fixes
These compact models offer different trade-offs in torque control, grip, charging and included bits. The specifications below come from manufacturers and are not results from an independent head-to-head test. Torque labels and methods are not shown to be standardized across these products, so do not treat the numbers as a direct performance ranking.
| Model | Manufacturer-listed details | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| WORX WX240 | WORX Europe lists selectable settings of 2.5, 3.5 and 5 Nm, up to 5 Nm, 300 rpm, USB-C charging, a battery indicator and a 24-piece bit kit. | The three settings are useful when you want to begin gently on furniture or other delicate materials. WORX’s technical-spec section separately lists 2.5 Nm as “Max Torque,” so check the exact regional model and packaging rather than assuming every listing describes the same variant. |
| Bosch IXO 7 | Bosch DIY lists 3.6 V, 2.0 Ah, 235 rpm, 3 Nm soft / 5.5 Nm hard torque, three-hour charging and a weight of 320 g. The basic kit includes 10 bits and a Micro USB cable; the tool has a magnetic hex holder and an attachment interface for IXO accessories. | A compact option for assembly and repairs, with a published weight and dimensions of 147 × 46 × 120 mm. The basic kit’s Micro USB connection and 10 bits are worth checking against your preferences and the local package. |
| Makita DF001DW | Makita Malaysia lists 220 rpm, hard/soft fastening torque of 4/3 Nm, a weight of 0.36 kg, an LED light, Micro USB charging and an 81-piece bit set. The handle converts between straight and pistol configurations. | The changeable grip may help when a screw is awkwardly placed. Makita estimates about 200 screws per charge under its stated condition—3.8 × 25 mm wood screws in SPF plate—and says actual work varies with the application. Specifications and standard equipment can differ by country. |
Product names and bundles can vary by region. Confirm the exact model number, charging connector and included bits with the local listing before you buy.

Bosch says both screw-count figures come from its internal testing with a new, fully charged battery tightening M4 – 0.7 × 30 mm screws. They are manufacturer claims under that test condition, not independent results or a guarantee for furniture assembly.
How to choose a cordless screwdriver for furniture
Match the tool to the size and frequency of the job
For assembling flat-pack furniture, building a PC or making routine home fixes, a compact screwdriver can reduce the effort of repeated turning. If you regularly drive larger screws or expect sustained, heavier work, step up to a drill-driver. A buying guide from Stuff, published 30 May 2024 and updated 7 May 2026, likewise distinguishes compact screwdrivers from larger tools for jobs that need more strength.

Prioritize control over a headline torque number
On small screws and delicate materials, too much force can overdrive a screw or damage the material. Selectable torque settings, such as those listed for the WX240, can help you work more cautiously. Start at a gentle setting, test on an inconspicuous area when practical, and finish by hand if the fit or material needs delicate control. Torque figures are manufacturer specifications with different labels; they are not a universal ranking.
Think about grip and the screw’s location
A straight or pistol grip can change how easily you reach a screw, and the Makita’s convertible handle gives you both configurations. The Bosch IXO 7’s listed dimensions provide a sense of its size, but no single measurement guarantees access: furniture panels, nearby walls and the screw’s angle all affect whether a tool fits.

Compare charging and kit contents
The cited WORX Europe page lists USB-C charging, while Bosch lists Micro USB for the IXO 7 and Makita Malaysia lists Micro USB for the DF001DW. Included bits also differ: the cited Bosch basic kit has 10, the WORX listing has 24, and the Makita Malaysia listing has 81. Those are regional product-page details, not assurances that every local package is identical.
When a drill-driver is the better choice
A compact screwdriver is designed for light fastening and convenient handling, not every screw-driving task. If your work involves larger screws, frequent heavy fastening or jobs beyond routine household assembly, a drill-driver is the more appropriate category. Stuff’s guide uses a Makita 18V drill-driver example listed at 42 Nm and 16 settings; those figures describe a larger tool, not a like-for-like compact screwdriver alternative. A drill-driver that accepts screwdriver attachments can also suit mixed drilling and fastening work.

What the specifications can—and cannot—tell you
Manufacturer specifications help you compare stated features such as grip options, speed, charging connection and kit contents. They do not by themselves establish which tool feels best in your hand, reaches a particular corner or performs better across real furniture materials. Check the local model and bundle, then choose around the work you actually do rather than assuming that a higher torque figure guarantees a better fit.
