Based on published specifications—not independent head-to-head testing—the Ninja Blast BC151 is a straightforward 18-ounce option, while Ninja’s Blast Max offers a larger 22-ounce vessel and more blend settings. Do not buy or use a recalled BlendJet 2: the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says its recall remedy is unavailable and affected units should be discarded.
What to compare in a cordless portable blender
For a portable blender for smoothies, start with serving size, then check how the vessel travels, how the blender charges and operates, and what the manufacturer says about cleanup and battery life. Published specs can help you compare convenience features, but they do not establish how smooth a drink will be or how long a blender will last in everyday use.
- Capacity: A larger vessel may fit a bigger serving, while a smaller one can be easier to carry.
- Controls: Check whether the blender has one blend mode or separate settings for different tasks.
- Charging and battery information: Look for the connection type and treat blend-per-charge figures as manufacturer claims, not guaranteed results.
- Drink-and-carry design: A sip lid and carry handle can make it easier to take a drink with you.
- Cleaning: Confirm which parts are dishwasher safe for the exact model.
How the documented models compare
| Model | Capacity and controls | Charging and battery claim | Carry and cleaning details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ninja Blast BC151 | 18-ounce vessel; separate power and blend buttons. Ninja’s comparison describes one start/stop setting and a battery reading at startup. Ninja product listing; Ninja comparison | USB-C charging; Ninja lists a 7.4 V base. Ninja says Blast provides up to 15 blends per charge; this is a manufacturer claim, not an independent runtime result. Ninja comparison | Hinged carry handle and easy-open sip lid; BPA-free lid and vessel are dishwasher safe. The U.S. listing identifies model BC151ND and a one-year limited warranty. Ninja product listing |
| Ninja Blast Max | 22-ounce vessel; 11.1 volts; three settings: Blend, Crush, and Smoothie. Its blade is fixed in the vessel and it has a battery-life indicator. Ninja comparison | Ninja calls it its longest-runtime cordless blender compared with the cordless blender market as of May 2024. This is a dated manufacturer comparison, not a current independent ranking. Ninja comparison | The cited comparison does not state cleaning instructions or carry-lid details. Ninja comparison |
| BlendJet 2 | Do not treat as a purchase option: the model is subject to a safety recall. CPSC recall notice | BlendJet’s product page advertises a 2000 mAh battery, 5 V motor, one-hour charge, and 10+ blends per charge. These are company claims and do not override the recall. BlendJet product page | Recall status and safety take precedence over advertised features. CPSC recall notice |
Which model fits your routine?
Choose the Ninja Blast BC151 for a simpler 18-ounce setup
The BC151 is the clearer fit if an 18-ounce serving suits you and you value USB-C charging, a sip lid, a carry handle, and dishwasher-safe lid and vessel. Ninja publishes these features for the U.S. model BC151ND; they are specifications, not evidence of comparative blending performance.
Consider Blast Max if you want a larger vessel and more settings
Ninja’s published comparison gives Blast Max a 22-ounce capacity, three blend settings, and a battery indicator. Those features may suit someone who wants a larger serving or more control than the Blast’s single start/stop setting. The comparison does not establish that it blends frozen fruit more smoothly or performs better in independent testing.

What to know about blending frozen fruit
Manufacturers market these portable blenders for smoothies and frozen drinks, but the available published specifications do not provide independent tests of frozen-fruit results, ice handling, texture, or real-world battery life. A product description alone cannot tell you whether a particular frozen-fruit recipe will blend smoothly. If that performance is essential, do not treat a marketing claim as a verified result.

BlendJet 2 recall: what owners should do
The CPSC announced the recall on December 28, 2023. It covered about 4.8 million units in the United States and about 117,000 units sold in Canada. The agency says the blenders can overheat or catch fire and their blades can break, creating fire and laceration hazards. The recall notice reported approximately 329 blade-break reports, 17 overheating or fire reports with property-damage claims of approximately $150,000, about 49 minor burn reports, and one laceration injury report. These figures are reports in the CPSC notice, not estimates of the risk to any individual unit.
The CPSC updated its notice on May 13, 2025, stating BlendJet Inc. had gone out of business and the recall remedy was no longer available. The agency’s instruction is: “Discard this product. Do not donate or resell.” Check the current CPSC recall notice and follow its serial-number identification process. The notice identifies affected serial numbers with first four digits between 5201 and 5542; use the CPSC process rather than relying on that range alone to identify a unit.
