The best cordless mini blinds for your window are the ones that fit its dimensions and mounting space, operate the way you prefer, and suit the room. Two documented 1-inch aluminum options illustrate the tradeoffs: First Rate Blinds lists a one-touch lift-and-tilt model, while Blinds.com lists inside-, outside-, and no-drill installation options. Neither listing establishes an independently tested overall winner, so compare the specifications against your window before buying.
What to compare before choosing cordless mini blinds
Start with fit and installation, then consider operation, appearance, and how you will handle the slats. Product dimensions and mounting requirements are model-specific; do not treat one retailer’s specifications as limits for every mini blind.
- Fit: Check the listed width and height range, measurement increments, inside-mount depth, and any restrictions on mounting direction.
- Operation: Confirm how the blind lifts and how you adjust slat tilt. A cordless lift does not necessarily mean every model tilts the same way.
- Installation: Verify whether the chosen configuration is for an inside mount, outside mount, or no-drill installation, and check its size restrictions.
- Appearance and handling: Compare listed colors and headrail details. Aluminum is lightweight, but slats can bend or crease if handled carelessly, and may make noise.
- Purchase terms: Check the current price, stock, shipping, return policy, warranty, and remake terms on the product listing; these details can change.

Choose by window fit and installation
For a shallow inside-mount opening
Compare the actual required depth with the clearance in your window frame. First Rate lists a 1 1/4-inch minimum inside-mount space, while Blinds.com lists 2 inches for its product. A smaller depth requirement may make a product easier to fit in a shallow opening, but measure the frame and follow the chosen seller’s instructions rather than assuming the blind will fit from width and height alone.

For an outside mount or no-drill setup
Blinds.com lists inside- and outside-mount choices as well as a no-drill option. The no-drill configuration may have its own size limits, so confirm that it is available for your window dimensions before relying on it. For the First Rate model, verify the listing’s available mounting directions for the configuration you intend to order.
Measure each window separately
- Decide whether the blind will sit inside the window opening or cover the opening from outside.
- Measure every window individually, using the chosen retailer’s instructions and required precision. First Rate specifies measurement to the nearest eighth inch.
- For an inside mount, measure available depth as well as width and height, then compare it with the product’s stated minimum. The two listings above specify different depth requirements.
- Before checkout, confirm that the selected size and mounting configuration are offered for that particular product.
Choose the operating style and appearance
If you want lift and tilt combined in one control, First Rate advertises one-touch operation without a separate wand. That is a useful listing-specific distinction, not evidence that it is more durable or easier to operate than other blinds. For any model, check the listing to understand how tilt is adjusted before choosing.

First Rate lists eight color choices. Color availability, headrail appearance, and bracket design should be checked on the individual product page, because the available configuration may change. A 1-inch aluminum slat gives a compact look, but the available evidence does not establish a universal style or quality winner.
Understand aluminum’s handling tradeoffs
First Rate describes aluminum as lightweight. Blinds.com cautions that aluminum slats can be noisy and may bend or crease if handled carelessly. These are seller statements about the material; they do not establish how a particular blind will sound or hold up in your room. Handle the slats carefully during installation and cleaning.

Why cordless matters for child safety
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says cordless window coverings are the only option to eliminate the strangulation hazard from window-covering cords, and identifies cordless products as the safest choice when young children are present. In its October 5, 2021 release, the CPSC reported that about nine children age five and younger die each year from strangulation involving cords on blinds, shades, draperies, and other window coverings. It also reported nearly 200 incidents involving children up to age eight between January 2009 and December 2020. These figures refer to the CPSC’s reported averages and time period, not a count of deaths or incidents in a single year. See the CPSC’s current window-covering cord guidance and its 2021 safety release.
A cordless lift removes accessible lift cords from that product design; it does not make a window itself childproof. For older blinds, especially most models made before November 2000 that may have inner cords, the CPSC recommends replacement. Its guidance says retrofit steps reduce risk rather than eliminate it.

- Durable Slats: Crafted from recycled materials, these slats are lightweight yet offer enhanced durability, quick recovery, and resilience. Finished in a special pearl off-white sheen, they provide a sophisticated look while serving as a long-lasting, damage resistant alternative to traditional vinyl.
- Effortless Cordless Operation: Prioritize safety by eliminating cords, reducing hazards, and ensuring ease of use. Includes two magnetic hold-down brackets to secure the blind's bottom.
For historical context, the CPSC said the revised voluntary ANSI/WCMA A100-2018 standard took effect December 15, 2018. For stock or substantially fabricated coverings, it required cordless operation or cords that were inaccessible or no longer than eight inches in any position. This describes the 2018 standard and should not be read as a complete statement of every current legal requirement. See the CPSC’s announcement about the standard.
Which one should you shortlist?
- Consider First Rate’s listing if its published 16–72-inch width and 26–72-inch height ranges suit your opening, you have at least 1 1/4 inches of inside-mount depth, and you want its advertised one-touch lift-and-tilt operation.
- Consider Blinds.com’s listing if you need its listed outside-mount or no-drill option, or if its configurations better suit your installation. Allow at least the listed 2 inches for an inside mount, and verify the chosen option’s size restrictions.
These are use-case shortlists based on published listing details, not ranked winners. The available information does not establish an independent comparative score or hands-on performance results.
