The La Marzocco Linea PB is a documented two-, three- and four-group option with published U.S. electrical and boiler specifications; the Linea PB X adds individual boilers for each group and a dynamic preheater; the Strada offers several control styles; and Victoria Arduino’s Eagle Tempo comes in multi-boiler and single-boiler versions. These are manufacturer-documented candidates, not a proven universal ranking: the available evidence does not establish comparative café throughput, current prices or local service quality.
How to shortlist a machine for high-volume service
Start with the work the machine must handle and the site that must support it. A third group may offer more simultaneous access to brew heads, but it does not by itself establish drinks per hour. Actual service depends on peak ticket concentration, how many baristas are working, the share of milk drinks, grinder and workflow setup, and the machine’s configuration. The manufacturer pages reviewed provide product features and specifications, not independently tested throughput benchmarks or a demand threshold for choosing two versus three groups.
- Map peak service: estimate the busiest intervals, expected tickets and drink mix, including how often espresso and milk preparation must happen at the same time.
- Match groups to staffing: consider the number of baristas who can work the machine simultaneously and whether the counter layout supports that workflow.
- Check site fit: verify counter width and depth, voltage, phase, circuit capacity, water treatment, plumbing and drainage before selecting a configuration.
- Plan for ownership: confirm installation costs, warranty terms, parts availability and local authorized technician coverage. The reviewed product pages do not establish local service response times or total ownership costs.

La Marzocco Linea PB X: per-group boilers and preheating
The manufacturer describes separate coffee and steam boilers, an individual saturated boiler for each group and a dynamic preheater intended to support brew water and steam during peak periods. Its U.S. page lists the following figures. The two- and three-group coffee capacities are expressed as multiple 1.3 L boilers, so they should not be treated as directly equivalent to one combined coffee boiler when comparing models.
| U.S.-listed configuration | Power range | Coffee boilers | Steam boiler |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two group | 3,350 W minimum / 5,670 W maximum | 2 × 1.3 L | 7 L |
| Three group | 5,830 W minimum / 7,790 W maximum | 3 × 1.3 L | 11 L |
These are manufacturer specifications and design descriptions, not independent proof of peak output. Confirm voltage, phase, dimensions and installation requirements for the specific regional configuration. See La Marzocco’s U.S. Linea PB X page.

La Marzocco Strada: choose the control approach
The Strada platform is listed in two- and three-group versions. Its control options are semi-automatic (EE), manual (MP or EP), auto-volumetric (AV), and AV with scales (ABR). The manufacturer also describes individual boilers, programmable preinfusion and dual PID control. It says auto-volumetrics support repeatability and consistency in high-volume settings; that is manufacturer positioning, not an independent performance finding. The U.S. page lists steam boiler capacities of 8.2 L for two groups and 11.8 L for three groups. Confirm electrical and other installation details for the exact model on La Marzocco’s U.S. Strada page.
Victoria Arduino Eagle Tempo: distinguish NEO from Digit
Victoria Arduino describes Eagle Tempo NEO as a multi-boiler machine and Eagle Tempo Digit as a single-boiler machine. The product page also describes five preprogrammed buttons, EasyCream milk automation, Steam-by-Wire, TERS heat recovery and automatic purge, and provides two- and three-group data sheets. Ask for the current data sheet for the precise configuration before comparing power, dimensions or installation needs.

The manufacturer states that NEO uses “up to 29% less energy than the previous model” and that TERS saves “8% of total machine consumption.” These are manufacturer-published claims; the page does not establish independent validation or operating conditions that would support a direct energy comparison with the other candidates. Details are on Victoria Arduino’s Eagle Tempo page.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Plan the installation before choosing a group count
Electrical service can rule out an otherwise suitable machine. For example, La Marzocco’s U.S. Linea PB page lists two- and three-group configurations as 220 V single phase, with standard power of 4,600 W and 6,100 W respectively. Those figures describe the listed U.S. configurations; they are not a substitute for an electrician’s confirmation of the actual machine, circuit and site. Do not assume another model, region or configuration has the same requirements.

Which candidate should a café investigate first?
- Start with the Linea PB if its U.S.-listed configurations, boiler arrangement and AV or mechanical-paddle controls align with the site and team. Use its published dimensions and power figures to check fit, not to predict throughput.
- Investigate the Linea PB X if individual boilers per group, its dynamic preheater and Pro Touch steam wands are relevant to the operation. Verify the power range and full regional specifications before planning electrical work.
- Consider the Strada when the choice among semi-automatic, manual, volumetric and scale-assisted control is central to the bar team’s workflow.
- Request Eagle Tempo’s current data sheet when comparing its NEO multi-boiler and Digit single-boiler approaches or assessing its automation features. Do not use the manufacturer’s energy claims as a head-to-head ranking.
No cited source establishes which machine is most reliable, has the lowest lifetime cost, or delivers the greatest sustained output in a café. Get a configuration-specific quote and have the local installer verify utilities and service arrangements before deciding.
