Best All-in-One Printers 2025: Affordable AIO Printers for Home Use

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The best affordable all-in-one printer depends on what you print. Choose a low-cost cartridge inkjet for occasional color printing, a refillable ink-tank model for regular color work, or a monochrome laser AIO for mostly text. If you scan stacks of paperwork, prioritize an automatic document feeder (ADF) and duplex scanning—not just automatic two-sided printing.

Date note: This guide covers the 2025 buying landscape. Prices and availability were checked against available information from August 18, 2026, and some 2025 recommendations have since been replaced or discontinued.

What does “all-in-one” mean?

An AIO printer normally combines printing, flatbed scanning, and copying. Some models add faxing, Wi-Fi, mobile printing, and automatic two-sided printing. A basic three-in-one provides print, copy, and scan; a four-in-one adds fax.

#1 Best Overall

  • PERFECT FOR BASIC PRINTING NEEDS – Print everyday color documents like to-do lists, letters, financial documents and recipes

“All-in-one” does not automatically guarantee an ADF, duplex scanning, Ethernet, borderless photo printing, multiple paper trays, or inexpensive ink. Confirm each feature in the exact regional model’s specification sheet.

Cartridge inkjet, ink tank, or laser?

Cartridge inkjet

Cartridge printers usually have the lowest purchase price and a small footprint. They suit households printing only a few dozen pages per month, especially when occasional color is important. Their disadvantages are low page yields, expensive replacement cartridges, and the possibility of clogged printheads when left unused. RTINGS notes these limitations in its current AIO coverage: see the testing notes.

Refillable ink tank

EcoTank and MegaTank printers cost more initially but use inexpensive bottles rather than conventional cartridges. They are usually the better long-term choice for regular color printing, schoolwork, forms, recipes, and family documents. Refilling can be messier, and tank printers still require periodic use and maintenance.

Consumer Reports’ buying guidance warns that a low-priced cartridge printer can become more expensive over time once replacement ink is included.

Monochrome laser

Choose a monochrome laser AIO when you print mostly text, print intermittently, need fast black-and-white pages, or want smudge-resistant output without ink-drying concerns. Laser is not automatically cheaper for every buyer: a low-volume user may not recover the higher purchase price quickly, and color laser AIOs generally cost more than basic color inkjets and tank printers.

How much will you print?

Estimate pages per month, the black-and-white-to-color ratio, whether you print photos, and whether the printer may sit unused for weeks. The following are practical decision bands, not manufacturer limits:

  • Under 30 pages per month: Basic cartridge inkjet or monochrome laser.
  • 30–150 pages per month: Better cartridge model or entry-level tank printer.
  • 150–500 pages per month: Ink tank, home-office inkjet, or laser.
  • 500 or more pages per month: Higher-capacity tank, laser, or business-oriented AIO.

If an inkjet will be idle for long periods, print a small color test page periodically and follow the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions. For genuinely sporadic document printing, a monochrome laser is often the safer fit.

ADF and duplex scanning: the specifications people miss

An ADF feeds a stack of pages automatically. It is valuable for tax records, schoolwork, receipts, remote work, and multi-page copying. A flatbed is better for photos, books, IDs, and fragile originals.

Rank #2
Canon PIXMA TS6520 Wireless Color Inkjet Printer, Duplex Printing, Copier/Scanner, 1.42" OLED Display, Compact, White
  • Affordable Versatility - A budget-friendly all-in-one printer perfect for both home users and hybrid workers, offering exceptional value
  • Crisp, Vibrant Prints - Experience impressive print quality for both documents and photos, thanks to its 2-cartridge hybrid ink system that delivers sharp text and vivid colors
  • Effortless Setup & Use - Get started quickly with easy setup for your smartphone or computer, so you can print, scan, and copy without delay
  • Reliable Wireless Connectivity - Enjoy stable and consistent connections with dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz or 5GHz), ensuring smooth printing from anywhere in your home or office
  • Scan & Copy Handling - Utilize the device’s integrated scanner for efficient scanning and copying operations

Do not confuse these features:

  • Automatic duplex printing: Prints both sides of paper automatically.
  • Duplex scanning: Scans both sides automatically, usually through an ADF.
  • Duplex copying: Copies both sides automatically.

Many inexpensive printers offer duplex printing but not duplex scanning or copying. The Canon PIXMA G3290 illustrates the trade-off: it is photo-capable and economical to run, but testing notes that it has no ADF and only one paper tray. The Epson ET-3950 adds an ADF and automatic two-sided printing, copying, and scanning.

Recommended affordable AIO printers

Brother MFC-J1360DW: best budget home AIO

Best for: Light home printing where the initial purchase price matters most.

Published testing describes the MFC-J1360DW as a strong budget AIO with sharp document text, detailed general output, and acceptable casual photos. RTINGS estimates roughly 400 black-and-white pages and 300 color pages from standard cartridges, with higher-yield options available: RTINGS’ recommendation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why buy: Low entry cost, compact home-friendly design, and good everyday documents.

Why not: Limited standard cartridge yields mean that a low purchase price is not the same as low five-year cost. Verify the exact regional model, cartridge numbers, ADF, and duplex specifications. Do not confuse it with the MFC-J1365DW INKvestment variant.

Brother MFC-J4355DW: best conventional cartridge upgrade

Best for: Buyers who want a familiar cartridge-based color AIO with more home-office capability.

Brother lists a U.S. price of $209.99 when viewed in August 2026 and positions the MFC-J4355DW for home and small-office use: official product page. It includes automatic duplex printing and replaced the widely recommended MFC-J4335DW in several current recommendation lists.

  • EASY TO USE WITH CLOUD APP CONNECTIONS: Print from and scan to popular Cloud apps(2), including Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, and more from the simple-to-use 1.8” color display on your printer.
  • FULL-SIZE FEATURES IN A COMPACT DESIGN: This printer includes automatic duplex (2-sided) printing, a 20-sheet single-sided Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)(3), and a 150-sheet paper tray(3). Engineered to print at fast speeds of up to 16 pages per minute (ppm) in black and up to 9 ppm in color(4).
  • MULTIPLE CONNECTION OPTIONS: Connect your way. Interface with your printer on your wireless network or via USB.
  • MOBILE PRINTING MADE EASY: Go mobile with the Brother Mobile Connect app(5) that delivers easy onscreen menu navigation for printing, copying, scanning, and device management from your mobile device. Monitor your ink usage with Page Gauge to help ensure you don’t run out(6).

Why not: “INKvestment Tank” branding should not be treated as equivalent to a large open-bottle supertank. Compare cartridge yields and replacement prices, and check whether the package includes high-yield cartridges.

Epson EcoTank ET-2980: best low-running-cost option without an ADF

Best for: Households that print color regularly but scan only occasional single pages.

RTINGS identifies the ET-2980 as a high-yield alternative to the Brother MFC-J4355DW, particularly for buyers prioritizing photo printing and low page costs: see the comparison.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why buy: Refillable ink substantially reduces the cost of regular color printing.

Why not: Its flatbed scanning does not provide the convenience of an ADF. It is also more expensive upfront than a basic cartridge printer.

Epson EcoTank ET-3950: best feature-rich tank AIO

Best for: Regular home or home-office printing where scanning and copying are important.

Epson lists the ET-3950 at $399.99 when viewed in August 2026. Listed features include print, copy, scan, wireless and mobile printing, 18 pages per minute black output, 9 ISO pages per minute color output, a 250-sheet tray, an ADF, and automatic two-sided printing, copying, and scanning: Epson’s product information.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why buy: It combines low bottle-ink costs with the document handling many budget tank printers omit. It also supports USB, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Apple AirPrint, and Mopria according to RTINGS.

  • 3 MONTHS OF INSTANT INK WITH HP+ ACTIVATION – Subscribe to Instant Ink delivery service to get ink delivered directly to your door before you run out. After 3 months, monthly fee applies unless cancelled.

Why not: The initial price is excessive for someone printing only a few pages monthly, and tank inkjets are not maintenance-free.

Canon MegaTank PIXMA G3290: best affordable photo-oriented AIO

Best for: Home users who want attractive casual photos and low bottle-ink costs without needing an ADF.

Tom’s Guide measured approximately 9.2 pages per minute for single-sided text, 7.2 pages per minute for two-sided text, and 4 minutes 12 seconds for a high-resolution 8×10-inch glossy photo. Its testing estimated about 0.9 cents per color page under its stated conditions: Tom’s Guide’s review.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why buy: Good color and photo output with low running costs.

Why not: It has one paper tray, no ADF, no thumb-drive USB port, and average print and copy speeds. It is a poor choice for frequent multi-page scanning or frequent paper changes. Do not publish a current price without checking Canon or a retailer on publication day.

Monochrome laser AIO: best for mostly text

Best for: Students, families, and home offices that mainly print black text and may leave the printer unused.

A Brother monochrome laser AIO or comparable Canon imageCLASS model can provide crisp, fast, smudge-resistant text and avoids liquid-ink drying. Select a model with an ADF and automatic duplex printing if paperwork is routine; choose fax only when you genuinely need it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why not: It cannot print color photos, and the higher upfront cost may not make financial sense below moderate usage. Compare toner prices and yields rather than assuming laser is always the cheapest option.

HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e: scanner-focused home-office alternative

Best for: Users who prioritize a more capable ADF scanner and mainstream home-office workflow.

RTINGS identifies the OfficeJet Pro 9125e as an alternative when scanner capability matters more than maximum page yield. Its ADF-equipped scanner is better suited to longer documents, although its yields are lower than the Epson ET-2980’s: RTINGS’ assessment.

Why buy: Stronger document handling and a familiar office-oriented feature set.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why not: It should not be called the lowest-cost option without a specific cost comparison. HP model suffixes vary by market, and “e” versions may involve connected-service or account requirements. Check current HP terms before buying.

How to compare five-year cost

Separate three numbers: purchase price, replacement ink or toner cost, and expected ownership cost. Use this formula:

Five-year ownership cost = printer price + replacement ink or toner + maintenance supplies + optional subscription fees

For a meaningful comparison, state your assumptions: pages per month, black-and-white versus color coverage, duplex use, cartridge or bottle prices, included ink, and maintenance-cartridge costs. A cost-per-page figure without those assumptions can be misleading.

Illustrative decision profiles:

  • 25 pages per month: A basic cartridge inkjet or monochrome laser may be financially sensible; a premium tank may take too long to justify its price.
  • 100 pages per month: Compare a better cartridge model with an entry-level tank using actual replacement prices.
  • 300 pages per month: A refillable tank or laser is more likely to justify its higher purchase price.

These are decision examples, not universal totals. Consumer Reports explains that its ink-cost estimates use replacement-cartridge prices, survey-based usage assumptions, and laboratory measurements: methodology details.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Connectivity and paper handling

For most homes, Wi-Fi, USB, Apple AirPrint, Mopria, and mobile-app support are sufficient. Ethernet is worthwhile when the printer is stationary, Wi-Fi is unreliable, or several devices need predictable access. Confirm driver and scanning support separately for Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android, and iOS.

Also check whether the printer has a front cassette or rear feed, one or two trays, legal-size support, envelope and cardstock handling, glossy-paper compatibility, borderless printing, and adequate capacity. A single tray is acceptable for ordinary letter-paper use but inconvenient when switching between documents, envelopes, and photos.

Common edge cases

  • Photos: Look for glossy-paper compatibility, borderless output, color quality, photo speed, and sharp black text. Casual photo quality is not the same as professional photo output.
  • Books and IDs: Use a flatbed. An ADF is faster for stacks but less suitable for thick or delicate originals.
  • Legal documents: Verify maximum paper size and the feed path; letter support does not guarantee convenient legal-size printing.
  • Third-party ink: It may lower costs but can cause color variation, clogging, firmware conflicts, or warranty disputes. Warranty treatment varies by manufacturer and jurisdiction.
  • Subscriptions: Ink plans can automate delivery and smooth monthly costs, but page allowances, rollover rules, cancellation terms, account requirements, and privacy policies vary. Treat them as optional and check current U.S. terms before enrolling.
  • Older models: Check availability and regional suffixes. RTINGS notes that the Brother MFC-J4335DW was replaced by the MFC-J4355DW and the discontinued MFC-J1205W was replaced by the MFC-J1360DW.

Final decision guide

  1. Mostly black text and infrequent use: Choose a monochrome laser AIO.
  2. Occasional color and lowest entry price: Choose the Brother MFC-J1360DW or a comparable current cartridge model.
  3. Regular color printing: Choose the Epson EcoTank ET-2980, Canon PIXMA G3290, or another refillable tank.
  4. Frequent multi-page scanning: Choose an ADF-equipped model such as the Epson ET-3950 or HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e.
  5. Photos matter most: Consider the Canon G3290, accepting its lack of an ADF and single tray.
  6. You need fax: Select a model that explicitly lists fax; do not assume every AIO includes it.

Before ordering, verify the exact model suffix, current price, included ink, replacement-supply prices, ADF and duplex-scanning features, operating-system compatibility, and return policy.
