The right 3 L pressure cooker depends first on whether you want an electric countertop appliance or a stovetop cooker—and on how much food it can actually hold. A 3 L label may describe full capacity rather than usable cooking capacity: Iris Ohyama, for example, lists 3.0 L full capacity and 2.0 L cooking capacity for its PC-MB3-H electric model. The options below are a manufacturer-specification-based shortlist, not a hands-on or independent test ranking.
Start with the setup: electric or stovetop
An electric cooker has its own heating element and needs a compatible electrical supply. A stovetop cooker uses a burner or hob, so compatibility with your exact cooking surface matters. Neither type is automatically the better choice: choose according to your kitchen, available power, and how you prefer to cook.
Choose electric for a countertop appliance
The Iris Ohyama PC-MB3-H is a documented 3 L electric example. Its manufacturer lists 800 W and AC 100 V, making regional electrical compatibility essential to check before buying. The product page also lists dimensions of 300 × 288 × 224 mm, weight of 3.9 kg, and a one-year warranty. These are product-specific specifications, and Iris Ohyama lists variants with differing details and status; verify the exact model and market. Iris Ohyama PC-MB3-H specifications
Choose stovetop for a cooker that uses your hob
Stovetop compatibility varies by model. WMF lists the 3 L Perfect Plus One Pot for induction, gas, electric, ceramic, and halogen cooktops. Tramontina says its 20 cm, 3 L Vancouver model works on gas, electric, and glass-ceramic resistance cooktops, but not induction. If you have an induction hob, the Tramontina model is not a suitable match. WMF Perfect Plus One Pot specifications; Tramontina Vancouver specifications

Compare documented 3 L models
| Model | Capacity and pressure | Power or hob compatibility | Documented safety details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iris Ohyama PC-MB3-H electric | 3.0 L full capacity; 2.0 L cooking capacity; 70 kPa maximum pressure. | 800 W; AC 100 V. | Specific safety mechanisms are not stated in the cited product information. |
| WMF Perfect Plus One Pot, 3 L | 3.0 L; operating pressures of 25/70 kPa. | Induction, gas, electric, ceramic, and halogen; 3.37 kg. | WMF lists a seven-level safety system. |
| Tramontina Vancouver, 20 cm, 3 L | 3 L; 80 kPa working pressure. | Gas, electric, and glass-ceramic resistance; not induction-compatible. | The page documents a maximum volumetric cooking fill of two-thirds of total capacity; follow the model instructions. |
| Wonderchef Easy Lock, 3 L | Pressure specification not stated in the cited product details. | The official collection page describes gas, induction, and electric compatibility for its 3 L cookers; confirm this against the exact model. | The product page describes a pressure safety lock, safety valve, and gasket release system. |
All figures and feature descriptions in this comparison come from manufacturer product information, not controlled cooking tests or independent safety comparisons. Wonderchef compatibility is described at collection level, so check the precise model documentation and local availability before relying on it.
Check usable capacity and filling instructions
Do not assume that a cooker labelled 3 L provides 3 L of usable cooking space. The Iris Ohyama PC-MB3-H listing distinguishes 3.0 L full capacity from 2.0 L cooking capacity. Tramontina states that its cited 3 L Vancouver should not be filled beyond two-thirds of total volume. That is a model-specific limit, not a universal conversion rule for every pressure cooker.
Rank #2
- Ideal for 3 or 4 Persons
- Made from pure virgin aluminium, exterior mirror polished
- Base thickness 3.25 to 4.06 mm
- Super-fast cooking
- Improved pressure regulator saves more fuel
Before purchase and use, consult the exact model’s manual for fill limits, operation, cleaning, and pressure release. A manufacturer’s maximum fill instruction takes precedence over estimates based on the capacity printed on a product page.
How to interpret pressure and safety claims
The listed pressure figures use different descriptions: Iris Ohyama gives a maximum pressure of 70 kPa, WMF gives operating pressures of 25/70 kPa, and Tramontina gives a working pressure of 80 kPa. These are manufacturer specifications for individual products. They do not establish that a higher number cooks faster or better, or that one cooker is safer than another.

Compare safety details as specific features rather than as a score. WMF lists a seven-level safety system; Wonderchef describes a pressure safety lock, safety valve, and gasket release system. Those product statements do not amount to an independent assessment of comparative safety. Follow each cooker’s operating and pressure-release instructions.

- For electric countertop cooking: Consider the Iris Ohyama PC-MB3-H only if its AC 100 V supply suits your region, and account for its listed 2.0 L cooking capacity rather than treating the full 3.0 L as usable.
- For induction: WMF documents induction compatibility for its 3 L Perfect Plus One Pot. Tramontina’s cited Vancouver model is explicitly not induction-compatible.
- For gas, electric, or specified ceramic surfaces: Check the exact model’s approved hob types. WMF and Tramontina document different sets of compatible surfaces.
- For a Wonderchef option: Verify the exact cooker’s own documentation, especially because the cited hob compatibility information is stated for the collection rather than confirmed here for a particular model.
Specifications can vary by market and product variant, and the cited manufacturer pages do not establish current retailer inventory. Confirm the exact model, electrical rating or hob compatibility, included documentation, and local availability before purchasing.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Capacity: 3.0 Liter. Unique Alpha Base; Unique Pressure Indicator
- Place the lid on the body of the cooker with the arrow mark on the lid in line with the arrow mark on the body handle, press down the lid slightly with one hand, and turn the lid handle (clockwise) to bring it exactly above the body handle.
- Note: If the normal escape of steam is blocked, the safety valve will operate. The safety valve will also operate if there is insufficient water in the pressure cooker and it boils dry, causing the temperature to rise beyond the normal operating range. The fusible alloy in the safety valve melts at the required temperature and releases pressure. The safety valve can be replaced as shown here
- Thoughtfully designed New Model
- Controlled gasket release system
