Measure the cutout, then confirm the exact microwave and trim-kit requirements in the manufacturer’s current installation instructions before changing cabinetry. A 24-inch-wide appliance does not necessarily fit a 24-inch opening.
Best 24-inch built-in microwaves by fit and features
These manufacturer-listed models are useful starting points, not independent performance-test winners. Their capacities, wattages, configurations, and kit requirements differ, so match them to your opening and cooking needs.

Measure the cabinet before choosing a microwave
Use the installation guide for the exact model and trim kit to check the opening’s width, height, and depth. Also account for outlet placement, clearances, ventilation, and whether the door or drawer can open fully at the planned location. Do not assume the nominal appliance width is its cutout width.

For example, Bosch’s HMB30155UC is 24 inches wide, but its listed cutout dimensions vary with the separate trim kit selected. Summit publishes a different, specific cutout for the SMBI24. These examples show why an opening should be verified against the precise installation configuration, rather than inferred from a product’s width label.
Bosch advises consulting the installation instructions for final dimensional data before making a cutout; its specification sheet also notes that specifications can change without notice. Thermador provides distinct standard and flush cutouts for its drawer and advises consulting the installation instructions and a countertop supplier before cutting. Treat current manufacturer instructions as authoritative for cabinet modifications.
Check how the trim kit is supplied
A trim kit is model-specific: kit width, compatibility, and whether it is included vary. Confirm the exact kit model and what comes in the box before buying. Summit says its SMBI24 includes a trim kit with frame, spacers, and hardware. Bosch requires a separately purchased kit, while Fisher & Paykel lists its compatible 30-inch kit as a separate accessory. Viking lists separate 27- and 30-inch accessories.

- Elegant Stainless-Steel Finish – A beautiful appliance that looks great in modern, or farmhouse-style kitchens our stainless-steel microwave easily matches appliances and creates a sophisticated look that sets itself apart from countertop units.
Do not substitute a generic or merely similar-looking kit unless the manufacturer confirms compatibility. A kit designed for a different microwave or trim width may not match the appliance or the required cabinet opening.
Choose the configuration and cooking features you need
Capacity and power
The listed capacities range from 1.2 cu. ft. for Summit SMBI24 and Thermador MD24BS to 2.1 cu. ft. for Bosch HMB30155UC. Listed wattages range from 950 W for the Thermador drawer to 1,200 W for the Fisher & Paykel model. Those numbers help describe the appliances, but do not establish which cooks better in real kitchens.
Door or drawer access
Bosch HMB30155UC uses a side-swing door; Thermador MD24BS is a drawer. Consider the installation height, nearby cabinetry, and how you will reach the cooking cavity before deciding. A drawer is a different form factor, not simply another trim option for a conventional microwave.

Controls and cooking modes
Compare functions only where the manufacturer specifies them. Bosch lists sensor programs; Summit lists digital controls; Fisher & Paykel lists five cooking modes. Consider which controls and programs you will use, alongside the cabinet and electrical requirements.
Replacing an older built-in microwave
For a replacement, identify the old model and its trim kit, then check the current manufacturer guidance for the proposed replacement. Wolf says its MW24 model is discontinued and identifies MS24 as its replacement. Wolf also describes overlapping E- and L-series trim kits for MW24 and MS24 and lists opening and electrical requirements. Shared nominal width alone does not prove that an existing opening, trim kit, or electrical setup will work; verify the exact combination in Wolf’s current guidance.
