A 10-gallon kettle can suit a range of home-brewing setups, but its nominal capacity does not tell you how much finished beer you will make. Choose by your boil volume, brewing method, heat source and the fittings included in the exact configuration—not by capacity alone. The options below are compared by listed features, not by independent performance testing.

What does a 10-gallon kettle hold in practice?

“10 gallon” is the kettle’s nominal capacity, not a promise of a 10-gallon finished batch. Boil volume, evaporation, grain displacement and the need for headroom all affect how much liquid you can safely heat. MegaPot lists its 10-gallon kettle for 5–7-gallon boils and BIAB (brew-in-a-bag), but that is the vendor’s stated use case, not a rule that applies to every kettle or recipe. See the MegaPot listing for that model’s details.

Before choosing, estimate the largest pre-boil volume your recipes require and leave enough room to manage a vigorous boil without spillover. If you brew larger batches or want extra headroom for BIAB, compare the kettle’s dimensions and working volume—not just the number on its label.

10-gallon kettle options compared

These models are candidates to compare, not a tested ranking. Product-page specifications can help identify a fit, but they do not establish which kettle performs best or makes better beer. Verify the selected size and configuration on the seller’s current page before buying.

Model Features listed Best reason to consider it
MegaPot 10-gallon 304 stainless steel; 10 gal / 40 qt / 37.8 L; listed dimensions 14.1 × 16.3 in; graduated volume marks; ball-valve configurations; optional false bottom. The vendor describes use for 5–7-gallon boils and BIAB. A feature-led option if its configuration and optional mash-tun accessory match your setup.
BrewBuilt 10-gallon Retail listing states 304 stainless steel, welded couplers, a 4 mm tri-clad bottom, internal volume marks, silicone-coated handles and a two-piece ball valve. Consider if welded fittings and the listed bottom construction are priorities.
Kegco 10-gallon Manufacturer listing states 304 stainless steel, a tri-clad bottom, induction compatibility, a thermometer and a two-piece ball valve. Consider if you want listed induction compatibility and those fittings included; confirm the current configuration.
Delta standard 10-gallon Listing describes 304 stainless steel, induction readiness, welded NPT ports, volume markings, a lid, valve and thermometer. A search result showed it sold out at retrieval. Compare its listed fittings and induction readiness, but check current stock directly.
Ss Brewtech TC kettle, 10-gallon size Product page offers a 10-gallon size and describes 304 stainless steel, an aluminum-core tri-clad bottom, induction heating and a three-piece valve with pickup tube. Consider if the exact variant’s listed construction and hardware suit your setup.
Spike OG kettle Product-line page describes configurable kettles and lists a false-bottom accessory; the exact size and bundle need checking. Compare if you want to configure a kettle and accessories, after confirming size and what ships.

Specifications above come from the respective product listings: MegaPot, BrewBuilt, Kegco, Delta, Ss Brewtech and Spike. A listed feature is not a substitute for confirming what is included in the exact size, bundle and configuration you order.

Match the kettle to your brewing method

For BIAB

Check that the kettle has enough room for your planned mash volume, grain bag and any basket or false bottom you use. Handle placement and interior geometry can also affect how easily you lift and drain a heavy, wet bag. MegaPot’s stated 5–7-gallon-boil and BIAB use case is specific to its listing; size your own recipes and equipment around their actual volumes.

CONCORD Stainless Steel Home Brew Kettle Stock Pot (Weldless Fittings) (40 QT/ 10 Gal)
  • Brew Kettle is made from Commercial Quality Stainless Steel, Fully Polished.
  • All Accessories included in this set are made from high quality 304 Stainless Steel.
  • Lid is hangable on the side of kettle.
  • Full weld less construction, so you can remove and clean as needed.
  • Kettle (pre drilled) will come unassembled for safe shipping. Assembly takes less than 10 mins, only tool required is a wrench or strong hands :).

For a separate mash tun

A false bottom can support a mash-tun workflow, but it is an accessory feature—not something to assume is included. MegaPot describes its optional false bottom as enabling mash-tun use for 5-gallon all-grain systems. Verify the correct diameter, bulkhead and hose connection for the exact kettle, and check whether the accessory is part of the bundle.

Check heat-source compatibility and construction

Do not assume every stainless-steel kettle works on induction. Kegco and Delta list induction compatibility and clad-bottom construction; Ss Brewtech describes an aluminum-core tri-clad base and induction heating. Confirm the manufacturer’s compatibility statement for the exact model and size you plan to buy. For gas or electric setups, check that the kettle’s base and dimensions suit your burner or element arrangement.

Construction terms matter most when they answer a setup question. For example, welded ports avoid a weldless fitting at the kettle wall, while tri-clad bottoms are a construction feature that may be relevant to heat-source compatibility. Compare the actual listing and your equipment rather than treating a material or construction label as a guarantee of performance.

BREWSIE Stainless Steel Home Brew Kettle w/Dual Filtration. Equip with False Bottom Thermometer and Ball Valve for Brewing (8 Gal/ 32 QT)…
  • Entire Brew Kettle is made with fully polished stainless steel
  • Brew Kettle Set Includes: Brew Kettle, Lid, False Bottom, Bazooka Screen, Thermometer, Ball Valve, Inner Connector, and all hardware
  • Dual Filtration maximizes efficiency and improves taste
  • Stamped Volume markers ensures precision. Lid is hangable on the side handles for sanitation
  • Size: 12.5" Wide x 17.5" Height. Weight: 14 LBS
  • Valve and ports: Confirm the valve type, port count, port location and whether fittings are welded or weldless. Make sure your hose, pickup tube or other connections fit.
  • Thermometer: Check whether one is included and whether its placement and range fit the way you brew.
  • Volume marks: Internal graduations can help with filling and boil-volume estimates; check that the listed kettle has them.
  • Lid and handles: Confirm what is supplied and whether the handle design is practical for your storage and lifting needs.
  • Cleaning: Consider how easily you can reach around ports, valves and any false bottom to rinse away wort and residue.

For example, Kegco lists a thermometer and two-piece ball valve, while BrewBuilt’s retail listing specifies welded couplers and a two-piece ball valve. Treat those as listing details, not a guarantee that every retailer’s bundle or current configuration is identical.

A practical checklist before you buy

  1. Set your target volume. Work out your usual pre-boil volume and largest intended recipe, then allow for boil headroom. Do not equate the kettle’s nominal capacity with finished batch size.
  2. Choose your method. Decide whether you need clearance for BIAB, a separate mash-tun setup, or a simpler boil kettle.
  3. Confirm heat-source fit. Match the exact model’s stated compatibility and base construction to your burner, element or induction cooktop.
  4. Review the selected configuration. Check the specific size and bundle for valve, thermometer, ports, lid and volume markings.
  5. Check dimensions and accessories. Confirm that the kettle fits your brewing space and that any false bottom, tubing or pickup tube is compatible.
  6. Verify purchase terms directly. Check current price, stock, shipping, warranty and return conditions with the seller; these details can change and were not consistently established across the listings.

Which one should you choose?

Start with the kettle whose listed configuration most closely matches your setup: MegaPot for a stated BIAB use case and optional false bottom; BrewBuilt if its listed welded couplers and bottom construction suit your priorities; Kegco if you want the manufacturer-listed induction compatibility, thermometer and valve; or another model if its exact fittings, size and heat-source compatibility fit better. This is a specification-based way to narrow the field, not an independent verdict on brewing performance.
