The City of Stirling’s current waste guidance does not confirm a return of household junk verge collections or identify suburbs that might be affected. It says household bulk hard-waste verge pickups have been replaced by on-demand services. Bulk green-waste verge collections still run on a recurring schedule, but they are a separate service.
Is Stirling bringing back junk verge collections in some suburbs?
That suburb-level claim is not established by the City’s current waste-service pages, which were accessed on 8 October 2026. Those pages do not identify a proposal, a council decision or a list of suburbs for a possible return of household junk collections. This does not prove no proposal exists; it means the claim needs confirmation from the relevant council report or meeting record before residents can rely on it.
A proposal, a trial, a request for a future review and an adopted decision are different things. Until the underlying council material is available, no suburb or return date can be stated as confirmed.
What household hard-waste service does Stirling offer now?
The City says its on-demand service replaced household bulk hard-waste verge collections. Eligible residents can request service when needed rather than wait for a scheduled junk collection. Options include skip bins and collections for lounge suites, mattresses, white goods and e-waste; what is accepted and the entitlement depend on the collection type. See the City’s on-demand waste collections guidance.

Skip-bin entitlement and fee
For financial year 2026/27, an eligible residential property whose owner or renter pays for waste services receives one free 3 m³ skip bin per year. The City lists an additional skip bin at $115 for that financial year. Commercial properties are not eligible for this on-demand service. Check the live City guidance for current fees and eligibility before booking.
What goes in a skip bin?
The City’s accepted-material list includes household furniture, timber, sports equipment, general bulk hard waste and floor coverings. It excludes hazardous waste, batteries, e-waste, liquids, mattresses, asbestos, tyres, building rubble, green waste and white goods. These exclusions matter because some items have their own collection option and others need a different disposal route. Check the City’s current skip-bin material list before setting items out.

- Spacious Capacity: Holds up to 30 gallons of yard waste for fewer changes
- Self-Standing Design: Simplifies filling with a sturdy, upright shape
- Made in USA: Meets stringent quality standards for reliable performance
A skip bin must be placed on the verge under the City’s conditions, must not be overfilled, and should contain only accepted materials. The City says delivery and collection take place on weekdays within its stated time window; consult its live service page for the applicable timing and placement rules.
How does the green-waste verge collection work?
Bulk green-waste verge collection is still a recurring service, scheduled every nine months. Residents can use the City’s bulk green waste verge collections page to look up the next date for their address. Green waste may be set out up to nine days before the scheduled collection, and collection can take up to two weeks.

Prepare green waste for collection
- Branches must be no longer than 1.5 m and no more than 30 cm in diameter.
- Keep loose leaves and weeds for the lime-green-lid garden organics bin.
- Do not put green waste in hessian, polypropylene or plastic bags.
- Keep the pile free of contamination and 500 mm clear of obstacles.
The City says green-waste bags are no longer available. Follow the address-specific schedule and current set-out checklist rather than assuming the dates for another property apply.

How to check whether a suburb has been named
- Look for the original City of Stirling council report, agenda or meeting record behind the claim.
- Check whether it describes a proposal, trial, review or adopted decision; do not treat these as interchangeable.
- Confirm any suburb names and dates against that record, then check the City’s current waste pages for service details.
Until an underlying council record or reliable report establishes the suburb-level claim, the City’s published service position remains on-demand household hard waste alongside recurring bulk green-waste verge collections.
