Aqara’s Doorbell Camera G400 and Hub M200 are separate products unveiled at IFA 2025 on September 4, 2025. The G400 is a wired 2K doorbell camera with Apple Home and HomeKit Secure Video support; the M200 is a multi-protocol smart-home hub for Matter, Thread, Aqara Zigbee devices, and infrared appliances. The M200 is not required to operate the G400.
Both are now listed through Aqara’s U.S. store. Prices checked August 16, 2026 were $99.99 for the G400 and $69.99 for the M200, although pricing and availability can change.

What Aqara announced at IFA 2025
Aqara introduced the Doorbell Camera G400 and Hub M200 as part of its IFA 2025 lineup. They address different needs:

- G400: an always-on, hardwired video doorbell.
- M200: a separate hub that connects and manages Aqara, Matter, Thread, and infrared devices.
The announcement connected the products through Aqara’s wider ecosystem, but they are not a combined doorbell-and-hub unit. Buyers should evaluate their power, network, and smart-home requirements separately.

Aqara G400: a wired 2K doorbell camera
The G400 is designed for continuous power rather than battery operation. It accepts either Power over Ethernet or 8–24V AC/DC low-voltage power. When powered through its electrical input rather than PoE, it supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6 on 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
That makes it potentially attractive for new construction, renovations, and homes with accessible low-voltage doorbell wiring or existing PoE cabling. It is not a drop-in wireless replacement for a battery doorbell. Aqara also states that the G400 does not support an existing traditional mechanical chime.
G400 video and hardware specifications

- Adhesive and screw mounting, with a 15-degree wedge bracket included.
The 3:4 view is particularly useful where packages are placed close to the door. However, Aqara says the video resolution is limited to 1200p when the camera is viewed through Apple Home or HomeKit Secure Video, despite the camera’s advertised 2K capability.

Yes, the G400 supports Apple Home and HomeKit Secure Video. That allows Apple users to view the doorbell, receive notifications, and use Apple’s supported recording workflow.
HomeKit Secure Video is not a completely standalone free recording service. Apple requires an iCloud+ subscription and an Apple home hub. Apple Home also applies the 1200p resolution limit noted above.
Feature parity is not automatic. Aqara Home features such as detailed AI classifications, privacy masking, voice modification, and Aqara-specific automations may not appear or operate identically in Apple’s Home app. The G400 should therefore be viewed as an Apple Home-compatible camera, not as a camera whose every Aqara function is reproduced in Apple Home.

Local recording, cloud AI, RTSP, and ONVIF
The G400 separates several types of processing and storage:
Local capabilities
Aqara describes on-device detection for motion, people, and intrusion zones. The camera also supports local microSD recording and SMB NAS backup, reducing dependence on Aqara’s cloud for those functions.
Continuous local recording requires a separately purchased microSD card. The G400 supports cards up to 512GB; the card is not included. NAS backup requires an SMB-compatible NAS and a correctly configured local network.
Cloud capabilities
Aqara’s HomeGuardian service adds cloud-based features including face, package, vehicle, and animal detection, cloud recording for up to 90 days, AI video search and summaries, and rich notifications with snapshots. Aqara advertises a free trial, but ongoing cloud features may require a HomeGuardian plan.
Local detection and recording can continue to reduce cloud reliance, but internet access may still be needed for cloud AI and push notifications. RTSP and ONVIF support also make the G400 relevant to NAS, NVR, and Home Assistant users, although the quality and depth of those integrations depend on the receiving software.
The G400 installation requirements
Before buying, confirm which of these power arrangements is available:
- PoE: one Ethernet cable carries network data and power, but the network must connect to a compatible PoE switch or injector.
- Low-voltage wiring: the input must fall within Aqara’s specified 8–24V AC/DC range.
- Wi-Fi with wired electrical power: Wi-Fi is available when the doorbell is powered through its supported electrical input.
“Wired” does not mean that any existing household wiring will work. Verify voltage, cable condition, transformer capacity, weather exposure, and network equipment before installation. Homes without suitable low-voltage wiring or PoE infrastructure may need electrical or data-cabling work.

What is the Aqara Hub M200?
The M200 is a general-purpose smart-home hub rather than a doorbell accessory. Its functions include:
- Matter Controller operation.
- Thread Border Router and Thread mesh-extender functionality.
- Aqara Zigbee hub functionality.
- Matter bridging for Aqara Zigbee products.
- Aqara’s Advanced Matter Bridging for exposing additional Aqara-specific capabilities.
- 360-degree infrared control.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and PoE connectivity.
- USB-C power input.
- Local automations through Aqara Automations 2.0.
- A built-in 90dB speaker for alerts, alarms, and custom audio.
Aqara says the M200 supports more than 50 Matter device types through Aqara Home. That is an Aqara-reported capability, not a guarantee that every device type or feature will behave identically in every smart-home platform.
What Matter Controller, Thread Border Router, and bridge mean
A Matter Controller manages Matter devices in a smart-home ecosystem. A Thread Border Router connects Thread devices to the home’s IP network. A Matter bridge presents devices using another protocol—such as Aqara Zigbee—through Matter platforms.
Advanced Matter Bridging is Aqara’s term for exposing additional Aqara-specific functions beyond the basic standardized device presentation. In practice, Matter does not guarantee identical controls across Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, and Aqara Home. Device type support, firmware, ecosystem software, and region can all affect the result.

The M200 includes a 360-degree IR blaster that can send commands and detect remote-control use. Aqara specifies a 38kHz infrared frequency and says the hub can expose an IR-controlled air conditioner to Matter when paired with an Aqara climate sensor.

There are limitations: Aqara specifies one IR-controlled air conditioner through the dedicated AC mode, while multiple air conditioners require Advanced Matter Bridging. Infrared is also line-of-sight technology, so the hub should be placed near the appliance with a clear signal path.
The M200 supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Ethernet and PoE, WPA3, Bluetooth, and 5V/2A USB-C power. Aqara does not include the USB power adapter. The package includes the hub, manuals, and a USB-A-to-USB-C cable. Aqara lists operating temperatures from –10°C to 50°C and dimensions of approximately 100.5 × 30.75mm.

Do you need the M200 for the G400?
No. The G400 can operate as a wired doorbell camera and connect to Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, microSD storage, SMB NAS, RTSP, and ONVIF systems without the product information establishing an M200 requirement.
The M200 becomes useful when the household also needs an Aqara Zigbee hub, Matter Controller, Thread Border Router, IR control, PoE connectivity, local automations, or a central alert speaker. It is an ecosystem-enablement purchase—not a mandatory G400 accessory.
Price and availability
As of the U.S. commercial snapshot checked August 16, 2026:

These prices and stock levels are market- and date-specific. Regional bundles, power configurations, retail channels, and feature availability may differ.
Which product fits your project?
Choose the G400 if you:
- Want an always-on wired doorbell rather than a battery camera.
- Have suitable 8–24V wiring or PoE infrastructure.
- Want Apple Home/HomeKit Secure Video support.
- Value a tall 3:4 view for packages and visitors.
- Need microSD, NAS, RTSP, or ONVIF options.
It is a poor fit for renters without compatible wiring, buyers who require battery operation, homes that depend on a traditional chime, or anyone who requires full 2K resolution inside Apple Home.
Choose the M200 if you:
- Already use Aqara Zigbee devices.
- Need Matter and Thread infrastructure.
- Want to control legacy infrared appliances.
- Prefer PoE or Ethernet for a hub.
- Want local automations and a built-in alert speaker.
It is unnecessary if the only goal is to operate the G400. It may also be the wrong choice for homes needing the greatest device capacity; Aqara positions its higher-end M3 above the M200 in that respect. A buyer wanting hub functionality integrated into a doorbell should instead compare Aqara’s G410 Doorbell Camera Hub, while recognizing that it is a different design from the PoE-oriented G400.
