As of Anoka County’s Construction Weekly update for the week ending October 2, 2026, several projects had completed paving or curb work, while others were just starting or scheduled to begin. Sims Road (County Road 86) remained closed until further notice, with no reopening date confirmed in that update. The county says it publishes Construction Weekly each week during construction season.
Work reported on 40th and 109th avenues
40th Avenue (CSAH 2)
On 40th Avenue between Main Street and TH 47 (University Avenue), the contractor had started installing storm sewer during the week ending October 2. More storm sewer work and relocation of a fire hydrant at 3rd Street were scheduled for the following week; the update does not confirm those tasks were completed.
109th Avenue (CSAH 12)
The county reported that concrete curb had been installed on 109th Avenue and Mankato Street, near CSAH 52 (Radisson Road). Separately, a two-inch bituminous overlay was scheduled to start October 12. That date was a planned start, not a confirmation that overlay work began.
County-wide pavement projects
CSAH 7 (7th Avenue)
Bituminous pavement installation from 145th Avenue to 1,130 feet north of 165th Avenue was complete. Pavement markings were planned for the following week.

CSAH 18 (Crosstown Boulevard)
Corrective work on the westbound travel lane east of Chisholm Street was rescheduled for the week of October 5, weather permitting. The October 2 update did not say this work had begun.
CSAH 32 (85th Avenue)
Work from Rendova Street to 250 feet east of CSAH 17 (Lexington Avenue) was scheduled to start October 5. The planned work included removing and installing storm sewer structures and an update to the city watermain.

CSAH 36 (Rutgers Street and Fawn Lake Drive)
The contractor had completed the final two-inch pavement lift. Pavement markings were planned for the following week.
Sims Road remains closed
County Road 86 (Sims Road NW) remained closed from University Avenue to 1,300 feet east of University Avenue in East Bethel and east of Oak Grove. The county reported that it had evaluated the roadway settlement and that it had leveled off. A contractor schedule for repairing the culvert sinkhole issue and reopening the road was being prepared, with a schedule expected Monday, October 5. The October 2 notice did not confirm a reopening date.

The county’s instruction was: “Sims Road is closed until further notice. Please stay out of the construction zone and use alternate routes.” The county did not provide a specific alternate route or travel-time comparison in that notice.
