Anker’s SOLIX E10 is a serious whole-home battery system, not simply a large portable power station. It is designed for fixed installation, advertises up to 7.6 kW output, expandable storage from 6 kWh to 90 kWh, support for starting a 5-ton central air-conditioning system, and transfer in 20 milliseconds or less. But the advertised entry price is not the price of a complete automatic backup installation.

Anker’s U.S. product page showed the E10 starter configuration at $3,999, reduced from $4,299 when checked. That price should be treated as date-sensitive: Anker has also advertised promotions with specific end dates, including a Summer Outlet Sale that ran July 20–August 2. Check the live configuration, promotion terms, installation quote, and availability before purchasing.

What Anker is actually selling

The E10 name covers several materially different configurations. The least expensive option includes the Power Module and one battery. It does not automatically mean that your entire house will switch to battery power during an outage.

What “whole-home backup” really means

“Whole-home” describes how the system can connect to a home’s electrical infrastructure. It does not mean every appliance can run indefinitely, regardless of demand.

Before buying, an electrician or qualified installer should assess the home’s service, panel arrangement, wiring, grounding, HVAC equipment, and priority loads. Central air-conditioning, electric resistance heat, water heaters, ovens, dryers, pool pumps, well pumps, and EV chargers can consume substantial power. Running several of them simultaneously may require load prioritization or automatic load shedding.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The most important distinction is between kilowatts (kW) and kilowatt-hours (kWh):

  • kW is power: how much the system can deliver at one time.
  • kWh is energy: how long the stored battery energy can support your loads.

An E10 can have enough output to start an appliance but still run out of stored energy quickly if that appliance operates continuously.

Can the E10 run central air conditioning?

Anker advertises the ability to start a 5-ton central A/C system and promotes up to 10–30 kW of turbo output, depending on the configuration and operating conditions. That is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee for every HVAC installation.

Starting a compressor is different from operating it for hours. Actual results depend on the compressor’s starting current, whether it uses an inverter, other loads running at the same time, battery state, wiring, temperature, and the installer’s load-management setup. In extreme heat, air conditioning can exhaust a small battery configuration far faster than essential loads such as a refrigerator, modem, lights, and selected outlets.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How long will the battery last?

Anker lists the E10 as starting at 6 kWh and expanding to as much as 90 kWh with additional battery modules. Real usable runtime will be lower than the nameplate figure because of inverter losses, reserve settings, temperature, battery condition, and changing appliance demand.

As rough planning examples—not independent test results—a refrigerator may use around 1–2 kWh per day depending on its model and conditions. Internet equipment, LED lighting, a refrigerator, and a few selected outlets may be manageable for considerably longer than a home using electric heat, central A/C, an electric water heater, a dryer, an oven, and an EV charger.

Ask the installer for a written load calculation based on your actual appliances. Do not select a battery size from a generic “days of backup” estimate.

Automatic versus manual backup

Power Dock: automatic backup

The Power Dock is intended to integrate the E10 with the home so the system can switch during an outage without the homeowner carrying equipment outside or performing a manual connection. The convenience comes at a significant premium: Anker’s listed automatic kit includes two batteries and costs more than the manual kit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Smart Inlet Box: manual backup

The Smart Inlet Box setup costs less than the automatic configuration but requires a manual connection or transfer procedure, depending on the installed arrangement. Everyone in the household who may respond during an outage should know the procedure before an emergency occurs.

AFERIY 3840Wh Portable Power Station,Expandable Solar Generator to 11520Wh
  • 【Up to 30% Tax Credit】Eligible solar-related purchases may qualify for the U.S. Residential Clean Energy Credit. Eligibility and documentation requirements vary—please check with your utility provider and/or a tax professional to confirm qualification for this portable power station purchase.
  • 【3840Wh LiFePO4, Expandable to 11.5kWh】Built with LiFePO4 (LFP) battery cells, this power station delivers up to 3840Wh (3.8kWh) capacity and 3600W continuous output. Add expansion battery packs to scale from 3.8kWh up to 11.5kWh, making it a strong fit for home backup, camping, and mobile workstations.
  • 【UPS <10ms Seamless Backup】In storms, hurricanes, or sudden outages, the built-in UPS provides <10ms transfer time for seamless switching. This solar generator helps keep critical devices running—computers, security cameras, medical freezers, Zoom meetings, and pet feeders (performance depends on total load).
  • 【Long Runtime for Essentials】Ideal for backup power at home or on the go, this outdoor generator can run a refrigerator, phones, a WiFi router, and lights for extended use. Typical scenarios include about 17 hours for common household essentials and 1–2 days for a refrigerator depending on the appliance and usage. Actual runtime varies by load and conditions.
  • 【4 Ways to Recharge, Fast in 1.5H】Recharge via AC wall, solar panel, car charging, or AC + solar. Adjustable charging-speed levels let you balance time and preferences, with as fast as 1.5 hours to full charge under supported input conditions. Includes a pull handle for easier transport.

Neither arrangement should be treated as a casual plug-in project. Grid-connected backup equipment may require a licensed electrician, permits, utility approval, inspection, and compliance with local electrical code and insurance requirements.

Other reasons the E10 is appealing

  • Fast advertised transfer: Anker specifies 20 milliseconds or less. That can help sensitive electronics, but it should not be assumed to provide universal UPS behavior for every device.
  • Expandable storage: The advertised 6–90 kWh range lets buyers add capacity, provided the selected configuration supports the expansion.
  • Solar input: Anker lists 9–27 kW of solar input depending on configuration.
  • Generator support: A 4.5 kW Smart Generator is listed as an accessory or configuration option.
  • Safety certifications: Anker displays UL9540 and UL9540A for the E10. Those credentials matter, but they do not make every installation automatically approved in every jurisdiction.

Existing rooftop solar also does not necessarily recharge the battery during a grid outage. Many solar systems shut down when the grid fails unless the battery and inverter arrangement is designed for islanded operation.

  1. Load assessment: List starting and running loads, especially HVAC, pumps, heating, water heating, and EV charging.
  2. Electrical inspection: Confirm service size, panel compatibility, grounding, neutral arrangements, wiring paths, and available installation space.
  3. Backup design: Decide whether the system will support the whole service, selected circuits, or a managed combination of loads.
  4. Transfer method: Choose the Power Dock for automatic operation or the Smart Inlet Box for a manual arrangement.
  5. Solar and generator verification: Confirm inverter compatibility, islanding capability, voltage, neutral/ground behavior, adapters, and charging limits.
  6. Approvals and service: Confirm permits, utility requirements, inspection, installer availability, warranty coverage, labor coverage, and local service support.

Ask for the total installed price, not just the online product price. A $300 product discount can be outweighed by labor, permits, panel modifications, conduit, additional batteries, and accessories.

Who should consider something else?

A conventional gas, propane, or tri-fuel standby generator may be a better fit for very long outages and high continuous loads when fuel is reliably available. The trade-offs are noise, emissions, maintenance, outdoor placement, and fuel logistics.

A smaller portable battery may make more sense if the goal is simply to keep a refrigerator, modem, lights, and a few outlets running. A permanent solar-plus-storage system may be preferable for homeowners who want tighter integration with rooftop solar, time-of-use tariffs, and long-term energy management, although installation is generally more involved.

The E10 is also a poor fit for renters, apartment residents, buyers without a suitable electrical installation path, and anyone expecting the $3,999 starter system to function as a complete automatic whole-house installation.

Is the sale worth it?

Yes, if you already have an installation plan, need quiet battery backup, want substantial starting power, and value expansion for longer outages.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Probably not, if you only need basic refrigerator and networking backup, cannot accommodate professional electrical work, or are comparing the starter price with the total cost of a conventional generator.

Most importantly, do not buy the E10 until you know which configuration you need. Verify the live price and promotion, obtain a load calculation, compare the Power Dock and Smart Inlet Box, and get a written installed-cost quote.
