It stores up to 20 fingerprints, offers a tap-sequence backup, and uses a rechargeable battery. It is a convenience-focused legacy product—not a documented high-security replacement for a hardened commercial padlock. Verify the model, battery condition, seller and return policy before buying old stock.
Identify the correct TouchLock model
Listings may use the generic “Bio-Key TouchLock” name. The outdoor model is ATL01F, called the TouchLock XL. The smaller ATLTSAF is a TSA travel lock for luggage, not the XL outdoor padlock. Aluratek introduced both models in its launch announcement: Aluratek’s TouchLock announcement.

What the ATL01F does
- Unlocks with a built-in fingerprint reader; no app requirement is documented for this model.
- Stores up to 20 fingerprints, according to Aluratek’s product material.
- Uses a rechargeable internal battery and includes USB charging.
- Provides a “fast-click” backup made from short and long taps.
- Is marketed for gates, sheds, lockers, bikes and other objects that accept its larger shackle.
The available documentation does not establish Bluetooth, remote unlocking, cloud administration, activity logs, geofencing or smartphone management for ATL01F.

| Item | ATL01F information | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Fingerprint capacity | Up to 20 | Manufacturer/reseller claim |
| Enrollment | Four-step process | Confirm the exact light and button sequence in the original ATL01F guide |
| Backup access | Custom short/long tap sequence | Create and test it before deployment |
| Charging | Rechargeable internal battery; approximately two hours to charge | Published claim |
| Runtime | Up to one year | Depends on use, temperature and battery age; not independently measured |
| Weather protection | IPX4 in Aluratek material; IP54 in a Walmart listing | Documentation conflicts; treat it as splash-resistant, not submersible |
| Warranty | One year in the U.S. and Canada for eligible purchases | Aluratek excludes unauthorized sellers: warranty terms |
How to set it up safely
- Charge the lock before initial enrollment.
- Keep the shackle open and enter enrollment mode using the ATL01F quick-start guide.
- Present the same finger repeatedly, varying the angle slightly, until the indicator confirms enrollment.
- Test that finger several times while the lock remains open.
- Add a second finger for each important user and retain at least one administrator fingerprint.
- Create the fast-click tap code and test it. Keep it in a secure location rather than relying on memory alone.
- Only after both fingerprint and tap access work should you close the lock around a gate, shed or other object.
The first enrolled fingerprint is described as the administrator credential in available manual material. Exact button presses and indicator colors can differ between ATL01F and the TSA model, so use the original model-specific instructions. A third-party manual reproduction is available at manuals.plus.

Outdoor use: rain resistance is not waterproofing
Aluratek describes the TouchLock family as IPX4 water resistant, while a Walmart ATL01F listing says IP54. IPX4 means protection from water splashes; IP54 adds limited dust protection. Because the model-specific documentation is inconsistent, regard the lock as suitable for ordinary rain and splashes—not immersion, flooding, salt spray or pressure washing. Keep the charging port covered, wipe away standing water and inspect the rubber seal periodically.
Battery reality and storage
“Up to one year” is a best-case published claim, not a guarantee for an old unit stored outdoors. Rechargeable cells self-discharge and lose capacity with age; cold temperatures can also reduce performance. Charge and test the lock before leaving it on a remote gate, taking it on a trip or securing anything valuable. For long-term storage, fully charge it, test both access methods, keep the cable with it and recharge periodically. Do not assume a USB connection provides emergency opening unless the ATL01F guide explicitly says so.
When fingerprint access fails
Reader rejects a fingerprint
- Dry and clean both the finger and sensor.
- Try the enrolled finger from several angles, then try another enrolled finger.
- Consider cold, cracked, wet or dirty skin and a nearly depleted battery.
- Use the tap code rather than repeatedly forcing enrollment.
Enrollment will not complete
Confirm that the lock is actually in enrollment mode, that the administrator credential is being used and that the 20-fingerprint capacity has not been reached. Re-enroll with the shackle open and cover more angles. Avoid resetting casually: available ATL01F manual material says resetting or re-registering can erase the previous code or fingerprint data. See the model page at manua.ls and verify the procedure against your original guide.
The lock is unresponsive
Charge it for the specified period with a compatible cable and power source, then retry. Do not force the shackle or disassemble the unit. If it remains dead, contact Aluratek support or replace it.

Security assessment
Biometric access solves a key-management problem; it does not prove physical attack resistance. The available sources do not establish a hardened-shackle grade, cut or pry resistance, pick resistance, independent attack testing, insurance approval, encrypted biometric storage, tamper alerts or audit logs. Use the ATL01F for deterrence and convenience where the consequence of loss is moderate. For expensive bicycles, commercial premises, firearms, critical infrastructure or irreplaceable property, choose a conventional lock with a documented security rating or another product with independently verifiable construction and support.
Buying a legacy ATL01F today
Availability appears inconsistent. A Walmart result showed $23.46 and out of stock, while a Flytec listing showed $34.95; these are observed reseller signals, not dependable current prices. The 2018 launch announcement listed a $69.99 MSRP, which is not a current value. Check the Walmart listing and the Flytec listing only as seller references.
- Confirm the box and lock say ATL01F, not ATLTSAF.
- Ask whether the battery charges and holds power, especially for used or old-stock units.
- Buy where returns are practical and warranty eligibility is clear; Aluratek’s warranty excludes unauthorized sellers.
- Reject units with corrosion, damaged seals or an unknown reset history.
- Do not rely on a newly purchased old-stock lock for high-value security until it has passed repeated fingerprint and tap-code tests.
Which alternative fits better?
| Option | Best when | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Hardened keyed or combination padlock | Forced-entry resistance and long outdoor service matter most | Keys or combinations must be managed |
| Biometric lock with mechanical key backup | You want fingerprint convenience without battery lockout | Verify the key system, battery and security construction |
| App-connected smart lock | You need remote sharing, temporary codes or access logs | Depends on phones, apps, accounts and firmware |
| Touchlox Pro | You want advertised biometric, app and backup-key access | Confirm current price, battery design, weather rating and support at the official product page |
Verdict
Choose the Aluratek Bio-Key TouchLock XL ATL01F when keyless shared access is more important than maximum physical security and you can verify a healthy battery, working backup code and a return-capable seller. Treat its weather claims as splash resistance, its battery figure as “up to” one year, and its security as unproven against determined attack. A documented hardened padlock remains the safer choice for high-value or security-critical assets.
