The available product information does not support an independently tested or objectively ranked top five, so this guide compares those variants and explains how to assess less vehicle-specific alternatives. The key first step is checking the usable sleeping area in your exact Outback: cargo dimensions differ by model year, and a published cargo length alone does not prove a mattress will fit.
Start with your Outback’s usable cargo space
With the rear seatbacks folded, Subaru lists a maximum cargo length of 75.0 inches and 43.3 inches between the wheel housings for the 2025 Outback. For the 2026 model year, Subaru lists a maximum floor load length of 75.9 inches with the seats folded and the same 43.3-inch width between wheel housings. These are Subaru-published specifications, not independent measurements for a mattress fit test.

Before buying, measure the flat, usable surface with the seats folded. Check the narrowest width, the distance from the tailgate to the back of the front seats, and any uneven transitions between the cargo floor and folded seatbacks. Cargo drawers, raised floors, storage platforms, and other modifications can reduce space or change its shape; measure above those additions rather than relying on Subaru’s standard dimensions.

Best-supported Outback-specific option: Luno
Luno’s Subaru Outback car-camping mattress is explicitly offered for the vehicle and comes in AIR Pro and AIR+FOAM Pro variants. Luno describes AIR Pro as a two-person mattress and says its included 12V pump inflates it in about two minutes. The manufacturer lists a packed weight of 13 pounds, packed dimensions of 8 by 26 inches, an R-value of 1.5, and a three-year warranty. These figures are published specifications, not independently verified performance results. The relatively low stated R-value is worth considering if you expect cold ground or low overnight temperatures.
For an Outback setup, retailer Gearlanders identifies AIR Pro as size S2 and gives inflated dimensions of 80 by 53 inches with the rear seats folded. Treat those dimensions as retailer-presented information and confirm the exact fit using Luno’s current vehicle fit selector, especially if your cargo area has been modified. Luno AIR+FOAM Pro
Luno presents AIR+FOAM Pro as its more insulated variant and says it self-inflates with an AirRoll bag. Its Outback listing describes a two-person setup and a three-year warranty. Gearlanders identifies the Outback version as size P2 and reports an R-value of 11, a packed weight of 12 pounds, and packed dimensions of 29 by 11 by 18 inches. These figures come from the retailer’s product information; they are not comparative cold-weather test results.

Choose between the two based on the trade-off that matters to you: AIR Pro has a stated 12V-pump inflation method and smaller listed packed dimensions, while AIR+FOAM Pro is presented as the more insulated, self-inflating option. Confirm current specifications and vehicle fit with the seller before ordering.

Gotidy universal car air mattress
Gotidy markets a universal car air mattress for vehicles including the Subaru Crosstrek and Outback. Its listing shows five customer reviews, including positive fit comments and one reviewer’s note that the fit was not perfect.
