Adding Blink Cameras From Two Locations: One Account, Two Systems

Yes—you can monitor Blink cameras at two separate properties from one Blink account. The usual setup is one Blink system for each property, with a separate local Wi-Fi connection and, when required by the camera models, a separate Sync Module at each site. Name the systems clearly—such as Home and Vacation House—then switch between them in the Blink app.

The setup that works

Think of Blink in four layers:

  • Account: your Blink login.
  • System: the group of cameras managed together in the app.
  • Location: the physical property. Blink’s address setting is not a complete multi-property manager.
  • Sync Module: the local hub used by many Blink cameras.

For two homes with different internet connections, create two systems under the same account. Blink says one account can manage multiple systems, and the app presents them as separate tabs. A system supports up to 10 cameras and one Sync Module, subject to model compatibility. See Blink’s account FAQ and Sync Module requirements.

One system or two?

Situation Best arrangement
Several rooms at the same property Usually one system
Two buildings using the same dependable network One system may work if the cameras and hub communicate reliably
Two homes with separate Wi-Fi networks Two systems
Different owners or occupants Consider separate accounts for privacy and access separation

Use two systems when the properties have different Wi-Fi networks, need independent arm/disarm controls, or should be clearly separated in the app. One camera cannot belong to more than one Blink system or account.

What you need at the second property

  • The same Blink account credentials used at the first property.
  • The Blink app.
  • The second property’s Wi-Fi name and password.
  • Physical access to the second property during setup.
  • A compatible camera and its QR code or serial number.
  • A Sync Module if the camera model requires one.
  • A power outlet for the Sync Module.
  • A suitable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network where required.

Blink lists a minimum upload requirement of 2 Mbps per device. That is a minimum, not a guarantee of perfect performance. Networks that require a captive-portal login, common on some hotel and school networks, are not supported. Check the requirements for the exact camera model because Mini, Mini 2, Wired Floodlight Camera, and some Video Doorbell models can operate without a Sync Module, while other cameras depend on one.

How to add the second property as a new system

Menu names can vary with the camera model, app version, operating system, and region, but the general process is:

  1. Go to the Blink app’s Home screen and tap the + icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Choose Sync Module if the second property’s cameras require one.
  3. Scan the Sync Module QR code, or tap Enter Serial Manually.
  4. Choose Create New System or the equivalent option for a new system.
  5. Enter a unique name such as Vacation House or Office.
  6. At the second property, plug in the Sync Module and wait for the light pattern shown by the app, generally blinking blue and steady green.
  7. Tap Discover Device when prompted.
  8. Join the temporary Blink network, usually named BLINK-XXXX.
  9. Select the second property’s local Wi-Fi network and enter its password.
  10. Finish adding the Sync Module before attempting to add dependent cameras.

The Sync Module setup must normally happen before cameras that depend on it. Otherwise, Blink may display: “You don’t have a Sync Module. This is a dependent device.” See the dependent-device troubleshooting guide.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to add cameras to the second system

After the second Sync Module is online:

  1. Tap + on the Home screen.
  2. Select the appropriate camera category.
  3. Scan the camera QR code or enter its serial number manually.
  4. When asked which system to use, select the newly created second-location system.
  5. Complete the setup and give the camera a descriptive name.

Useful names include Home — Front Door, Home — Garage, Vacation House — Driveway, and Office — Rear Entrance. Unique system names make it much harder to configure the wrong property accidentally. Blink’s setup guides explain the system-selection step for models such as Outdoor 4, Outdoor and Indoor 3rd Gen, and Mini.

For a standalone camera such as a compatible Mini, Mini 2, Wired Floodlight, or Video Doorbell, the app may let you create a system during that camera’s setup without adding a Sync Module. Select the second-location system if one already exists.

Adding another camera to an existing location

If the second property already has a Blink system, do not create another one unnecessarily:

  1. Tap + on the Home screen.
  2. Choose the camera type.
  3. Scan its QR code or enter the serial number.
  4. Select the existing second-location system.
  5. Tap Continue and finish setup on that property’s network.

For cameras that use a Sync Module, use the local Wi-Fi associated with that system. Do not try to make a camera at Property B depend on Property A’s Sync Module.

Switching between the two properties

Blink systems appear as separate tabs at the top of the app’s Home screen. Tap the tab for the property you want to manage.

Always confirm the active system before:

  • Arming or disarming motion detection.
  • Changing motion settings.
  • Adding or renaming a camera.
  • Reviewing thumbnails.
  • Changing Sync Module settings.

Each system has its own armed/disarmed control. Select the intended system first, then tap Armed at the bottom of the Home screen. Arming one system should not be treated as confirmation that the other property is armed; check each system separately. Blink’s current guidance is available in its motion-detection instructions.

Do you need two Sync Modules?

Usually, yes, when both properties use cameras that require a hub. A Sync Module connects to a local Wi-Fi network and manages cameras in its system. It is not a practical way to serve two distant homes with separate networks. The limitation comes from the local-network architecture, not from having two addresses on one account.

A second Sync Module is unnecessary merely because you are adding cameras in another room of the same property, provided the existing system has capacity and the camera is compatible with it.

Subscriptions and local storage

In current U.S. Blink support information, Plus and Plus AI plans are described as covering unlimited eligible devices per account. Basic and Basic AI plans are described as covering one eligible device. Eligibility, features, retention, plan terms, and availability vary by camera model and region, so check the current plan information and subscription FAQ before changing coverage. No price is included here because plan pricing can change.

A Plus plan may be simpler when both properties have several eligible cameras. A Basic plan is device-specific, so adding a second property may require separately assigning coverage. Live view and motion notifications may remain available without a paid plan, but cloud storage and other features depend on the product and storage arrangement.

Address settings versus system names

Blink documents an account location setting under Settings → Device and System Settings → Address → Edit Address. The app may ask you to confirm a location when adding a device. Treat this as an account or region-related setting, not as a full two-address organizer. For everyday management, descriptive system names are the dependable way to distinguish properties. See Blink’s location guidance.

Troubleshooting two-location setups

The second system is missing

  1. Return to the app’s Home screen and check the system tabs.
  2. Open Settings → Device and System Settings → Systems.
  3. Confirm that you are signed in with the correct account email.
  4. Check whether the second-system setup actually completed.
  5. Update the Blink app if necessary.

Do not delete the first system simply because the second one is not immediately visible. Blink’s current app-layout guidance describes the Systems area.

“You don’t have a Sync Module” appears

The camera is probably a dependent device. Add the compatible Sync Module first, assign it to the second-location system, connect it to that property’s Wi-Fi, and then restart camera setup.

The camera was added to the wrong property

Check the selected system before deleting anything. Device deletion removes the camera from the Blink system and from the Home screen; do not assume that recordings or subscription behavior will be preserved exactly as expected. If the app does not offer a safe reassignment path, contact Blink Support before deleting the device. Blink documents the deletion behavior in its device settings guidance.

Blink Outdoor 4 – Wireless smart security camera, two-year battery life, 1080p HD day and infrared night live view, two-way talk. Sync Module Core included – 5 camera system
  • Outdoor 4 is our most affordable wireless smart security camera yet, offering up to two-year battery life for around-the-clock peace of mind. Local storage not included with Sync Module Core.
  • See and speak from the Blink app — Experience 1080p HD live view, infrared night vision, and crisp two-way audio.
  • Two-year battery life — Set up in minutes and get up to two years of power with the included AA Energizer lithium batteries and a Blink Sync Module Core.
  • Enhanced motion detection — Be alerted to motion faster from your smartphone with dual-zone, enhanced motion detection.
  • Person detection — Get alerts when a person is detected with embedded computer vision (CV) as part of an optional Blink Subscription Plan (sold separately).

Setup is being attempted remotely

Initial setup normally requires someone at the second property with the phone, device, power, and Wi-Fi details. The app may connect to a temporary BLINK-XXXX network and needs local communication with the camera or Sync Module. Complete setup while physically at Property B, keep the phone nearby, and enable local-network permission on iOS or location permission on Android as requested. See Blink’s temporary Wi-Fi explanation.

The QR code will not scan

Tap Enter Serial Manually. You can also improve lighting, adjust the phone’s distance and angle, clean the lens, try the QR code on the product box, or disable dark mode if it interferes with scanning. See Blink’s QR troubleshooting steps.

The second property changed its router or password

  1. Open the relevant system.
  2. Tap its Sync Module.
  3. Tap Change Wi-Fi Network.
  4. Follow the reset and discovery light instructions.
  5. Join the temporary Blink network.
  6. Select the new Wi-Fi network and enter its password.

Update the Sync Module’s Wi-Fi settings rather than deleting the system. Follow Blink’s Wi-Fi update guide.

Cameras at Property B are offline

Check the property’s internet service, 2.4 GHz compatibility, upload capacity, Sync Module power, camera-to-hub distance, and signal strength in Device Settings. Confirm that the system still exists and has not simply been disarmed. Captive-portal authentication is unsupported. If possible, move the camera closer to the Sync Module or improve Wi-Fi coverage.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When a second Blink account makes more sense

A second account is not technically required for two properties. One account is more convenient, but anyone given access to that account may potentially see both properties, and a compromised login could expose both. Separate accounts may be more appropriate when the properties have unrelated owners, tenants, or access expectations.

Do not share the primary account password casually, and do not assume Blink provides a particular role-based permission system unless the current product documentation confirms it. Choose one account for convenience; choose separate accounts when privacy and ownership separation matter more.

Before you leave the second property

  • Confirm the second system has a unique, recognizable name.
  • Verify every camera appears under the correct system.
  • Test live view from each camera.
  • Check signal strength and motion settings.
  • Confirm the intended system is armed.
  • Verify cloud or local-storage behavior for the exact camera models.
  • Record the Sync Module and camera serial numbers somewhere secure.
