Kickstarter reported $324,870 pledged by 1,722 backers against a $15,000 goal. However, the accessible campaign information does not establish detailed specifications, successful fulfillment, current sales or that AdapDesk was objectively the world’s first portable workstation.
What AdapDesk was supposed to be
The campaign described AdapDesk as “a portable desk designed for the growing need to comfortably use a laptop or device in bed, couch, floor, and much more.” In practical terms, it was presented as a flexible work surface for places where a conventional desk is unavailable or inconvenient.

“The World’s First Portable Work Station” was part of the Kickstarter campaign title. The available evidence supports attributing that phrase to the campaign’s marketing language, not treating historical priority as independently verified.

Is the original AdapDesk still available?
Current availability is unresolved. Kickstarter shows a completed 2017 campaign and a 2020 update, but the accessible page does not verify a current seller, authorized retailer or ongoing production. Treat listings that appear without a clear connection to the original creator or campaign as unverified.

Do not confuse it with ADAPWORK’s AdapDesk
A current ADAPWORK catalog also uses the name “AdapDesk,” but for height-adjustable desks and desk frames intended for home and office workspaces. The available information does not establish that those products are related to the Kickstarter portable laptop desk. They should be treated as separate product identities.

What to look for in a modern alternative
If you need this general category today, search for foldable laptop desk or portable laptop desk for bed. A generic folding laptop-desk manual describes use as a laptop stand or tray in bed, on a sofa, on the floor and in an office. That demonstrates category relevance, not equivalence to AdapDesk or proof of current inventory.

AdapDesk was a heavily backed 2017 Kickstarter concept for working with a laptop or device away from a conventional desk. Kickstarter reported $324,870 from 1,722 backers, but the available record does not verify detailed specifications, delivery outcomes or current availability. The “world’s first” wording belongs to the campaign title, and the similarly named ADAPWORK desk range should not be assumed to be the same product.
