ABK Biomedical held a construction kickoff celebration on October 2, 2026, for its planned U.S. commercial manufacturing facility at Cartwright Business Park in Ashland, Missouri. The company says the GMP facility is intended to support commercial-scale production of Eye90 microspheres, an investigational Y-90 radioembolization device being developed for liver cancer.
What was announced in Ashland
The event marked a construction milestone for ABK Biomedical’s planned facility. Attendees included Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, representatives of ABK Biomedical, COR Development, Coil Construction, the University of Missouri and the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR), as well as state and local officials. ABK Biomedical’s October 2 announcement describes the celebration and the project schedule.
The company says the facility is scheduled for completion in 2027, with commissioning planned in 2028. Those are announced plans, not confirmation that construction is complete or that the dates are guaranteed.
What the facility is intended to make
ABK says the planned GMP manufacturing facility is designed for commercial-scale production of Eye90 microspheres. Eye90 is an investigational yttrium-90 (Y-90) radioembolization device being developed for liver cancer. The company says it is not approved for use outside authorized clinical trials; the facility announcement is not a treatment-availability announcement.

ABK President and CEO Mike Mangano described the facility as part of the company’s long-term plan to manufacture Eye90 at commercial scale. His statement expresses the company’s goals; it does not establish a clinical outcome or guarantee that the device will become an approved treatment.
Why the project is located near MURR
ABK’s earlier announcement named MURR as its irradiation partner for Eye90 and said proximity to the reactor offers a supply-chain advantage for the product’s time-sensitive Y-90 production process. The planned Ashland location is therefore tied to the intended manufacturing and irradiation arrangement, rather than being described solely as a general-purpose production site. The April 8, 2026 partnership announcement sets out that rationale.

Governor Mike Kehoe said the project would bring high-tech jobs and a medical technology manufacturing facility with potential to serve patients around the world. The company announcements do not provide a projected job count or a quantitative estimate of the project’s economic impact, so no specific employment figure can be stated from them.
