Yes.” What you pay, which delivery methods appear, and how soon an order can arrive all depend on your ZIP code, the items in your cart, and their stock. No single fee or delivery date applies to every shopper, so the reliable way to get an answer is to build your cart, enter your address, and read the options at checkout.
Where IKEA U.S. delivers
IKEA’s U.S. FAQ says shipping and delivery are not currently offered outside the continental United States. Inside that area, availability is set by ZIP code and by the order itself. A method you saw described on a product page may not appear for your cart or location. IKEA’s delivery options guidance also states that PO Boxes and APO addresses are not eligible for delivery.
Standard online delivery orders ship from central warehouses assigned by ZIP code, not necessarily from the store nearest you. Store inventory is therefore not a reliable guide to whether an item can be delivered to your address.
Delivery options and what each one is for
IKEA recommends parcel shipping for smaller products and home delivery for larger or bulky ones. The options that appear depend on your address, stock, and cart, so treat the list below as what IKEA describes, not a menu you are guaranteed to see.

Doorstep delivery
Select the home-delivery option at checkout and enter accurate delivery and access instructions. Doorstep service is different from in-home placement: the items are left at the door, so you need a plan to move them inside. Use the delivery window and confirmation details supplied for your order.
In-home delivery
For in-home service, the driver brings the items inside and places them in the single room you chose. Give clear instructions and make sure the driver can reach that room. IKEA advises that an adult aged 18 or older be present for its home-delivery process.

The $35 merchandise minimum
IKEA U.S. states that all shipping and delivery options require a merchandise subtotal of at least $35 after discounts, coupons, credits, and promotional offers. Gift cards, taxes, shipping and delivery fees, assembly fees, and other service fees do not count toward that amount. A cart with $30 of merchandise does not qualify once a delivery charge is added on top.
How to find your delivery cost
IKEA’s pricing guidance says online delivery prices vary by location and other factors, so the only dependable figure is the one shown for your order. Its general FAQ states that IKEA does not offer free shipping, but IKEA Family members can receive savings on select delivery options, subject to the current offer shown to the member.

- Add the items you intend to buy to your cart on IKEA’s U.S. website.
- Open the cart and go to the checkout section.
- Enter your delivery address, including your state and ZIP code.
- Compare the delivery options offered and note the price shown for each one before you place the order.
Delivery timing and tracking
The earliest delivery dates shown at checkout are estimates, not guarantees. They depend on stock and location. The delivery provider may contact you to confirm the scheduled date and delivery window, so keep your phone and email reachable. To follow an order, use IKEA’s Track & Manage tool with your order number and the email address or phone number attached to the order.
Preparing for the delivery day
- Clear the route from the delivery point to the room, including doorways and stairs, so the items can be carried safely.
- Make sure an adult aged 18 or older is present for home delivery.
- Confirm the delivery window and any contact from the delivery provider.
- Before signing or accepting the items, compare the packages with your order confirmation and article numbers.
If items are missing or the order shows as delivered
If something is missing, review the order confirmation and article numbers, then contact IKEA U.S. customer support. If an order is marked delivered but you have not received it, contact support with the same details. Report any damaged item to support as well, rather than leaving the issue for later.

Changes after you pay
IKEA’s FAQ says the delivery service cannot be changed once payment has been collected, and items cannot be added to a paid order. Support may be able to place a separate order for the extra items, but combining delivery dates is not guaranteed. Removing items, cancelling, and rescheduling depend on where the order is in processing and shipping. Use Track & Manage for the actions it offers, and contact support to reschedule or to ask about an exception for your order.
Assembly after delivery
IKEA’s services page lists Taskrabbit assembly as an option for furniture. Assembly fees are service fees, so they do not count toward the $35 merchandise minimum, and their price should be checked in the cart like any other charge.
