Xiaomi calculates the “up to 180 days” figure from eight uses per day, with the dispenser in standby for the rest of the time. Its FAQ also describes a full charge lasting about six months in a laboratory environment under the same usage assumption. Both numbers are conditional on that pattern.
If your usage is heavier or lighter
The battery estimate scales with how often the sensor is triggered. A washroom with frequent traffic will use more charge than the eight-uses-per-day baseline, and a quiet household will likely last longer. Xiaomi does not publish a sliding scale for other usage levels, so you should plan on the 180-day number as the upper bound of the stated scenario rather than a guarantee.

Charging and app support
The dispenser has a rechargeable lithium battery and charges through a Type-C port. Xiaomi’s FAQ gives an approximate full-charge time of 2.5 hours. Xiaomi states that the 1S does not connect to or bind with the Xiaomi Home app, so it should not be bought as a smart-home device that you control or monitor through that app.

Water resistance and cleaning
The IPX5 rating appears on the product page, which names LCIE as the testing laboratory and cites report ARQT-ESH-P24021050. IPX5 describes protection against low-pressure water jets. It is not a rating for immersion, and it does not mean the unit can be rinsed under a tap.
Xiaomi’s instruction is to wipe the body with a damp cloth. Do not rinse or soak the unit, and keep liquid soap out of the sensor area during refills.

Soap refills and running cost
Hand soap is not included. Xiaomi’s FAQ describes a recommended 320 ml bottle and estimates about 400 foaming uses from it. At eight uses per day, that works out to about 50 days. Xiaomi also states that each dispense releases about 0.7 g of liquid. These are manufacturer figures, and actual consumption will depend on how much soap each person uses per wash and on the viscosity of the soap you choose.
Before buying, confirm that a third-party soap will fit and foam correctly. The sources reviewed do not establish compatibility with non-Xiaomi refills, so check the seller’s listing or the manual.
