The Casuarina by Evergreen Homes Australia is a single-level tiny house for one or two people, with a ground-floor bedroom instead of a loft reached by stairs or ladder. That can make getting to bed more convenient for people who would rather not climb, though the available description does not establish that the home is certified accessible.
What makes the Casuarina’s layout different?
Many tiny houses put the main bed in a loft to preserve floor space below. The Casuarina takes another approach: its double bed and storage are in a bedroom on the ground floor. The design avoids a climb to the main sleeping area and has a high ceiling, according to New Atlas’s July 22, 2024 report.
That choice has practical appeal for people who find stairs or ladders inconvenient, including some people with mobility issues. It is not, by itself, evidence of step-free entry, accessible clearances, grab bars, or any accessibility certification; those details are not stated in the report.
How much space does it have?
New Atlas reported the Casuarina at 8.4 m (27 ft) long, built on a triple-axle trailer, with 18 sq m (almost 194 sq ft) of interior floor area. Those are figures for this model, not a general measure of tiny houses.

The sleeping arrangement is intended for one or two residents. A sofa bed in the living room provides an additional place for guests, while the ground-floor bedroom holds a double bed and storage. The report does not give a comparative floorplan measurement showing how much space the bedroom uses versus a loft design.
What is inside?
Living area
The living room includes a sofa bed, a wood-burning stove, and a ceiling fan. The sofa bed offers guest sleeping space without putting the main bed overhead.
Kitchen
The kitchen has a breakfast bar with stools for two, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven, sink, cabinetry, and a two-burner propane-powered stove. The mix of appliances gives the compact home facilities for everyday cooking, but the report does not identify appliance brands or models.
Bathroom and bedroom
The bathroom has a vanity sink and shelving, with room for a washer/dryer. The bedroom provides a double bed and storage on the ground floor.
What should a buyer weigh against a loft layout?
The Casuarina’s main advantage is straightforward: reaching its primary bed does not require climbing to a loft. A loft arrangement can preserve more of the lower floor for other uses, while a ground-floor bedroom assigns part of the limited footprint to sleeping. The available description does not quantify that trade-off, so buyers should compare actual floorplans and usable clearances rather than assume one arrangement is roomier.
- Bed access: the Casuarina keeps the main bed at ground level.
- Sleeping space: check how much room the bedroom leaves for circulation and daily activities.
- Guest capacity: the living-room sofa bed is the reported additional sleeping option.
- Storage and headroom: the report notes bedroom storage and a high ceiling but does not provide measurements.
- Accessibility needs: confirm entry, bathroom access, door widths, and other requirements directly; a ground-floor bedroom alone does not establish accessibility.
Power, solar, and price
The Casuarina is described as supplied with a grid-based hookup and wired ready for an optional solar upgrade. The report does not specify solar capacity, inverter details, panel requirements, or compatible products, so a generic solar kit should not be assumed to work with the home. Ask Evergreen Homes Australia what equipment and installation the upgrade entails.
New Atlas did not report an exact price. The July 2024 article also does not establish current pricing, availability, or delivery terms; prospective buyers should confirm those details with the builder.
