Turbo Moka Brew Time: Turbine-Inspired Base Cuts Time by 33–47% by the Maker’s Count, Not Half

The Turbo Moka does not halve brewing time. The maker reports 33% and 47% shorter brews for 3 and 6 cups, measured by the company itself.

The Turbo Moka does not halve brewing time. The manufacturer’s published figures show a 33% shorter brew for three cups (106 seconds against 158 seconds for a classic moka pot) and a 47% shorter brew for six cups (160 seconds against 300 seconds). These are the company’s own measurements, not independent tests, and they only apply to the setup the maker describes.

What the Turbo Moka is

The Turbo Moka is a stovetop moka pot whose boiler base has a twelve-blade, turbine-inspired finned design. The maker says the fins capture more heat from the burner than the flat base of a classic moka pot. The range covers two models that the official product pages describe: the TM1, a one-cup model, and the TM6, a six-cup model. The company’s main site is turbomoka.it.

The timing figures and what they measure

The company’s technology page publishes two comparisons. Both use the same stove, flame, water and coffee for each pot, and time runs from ignition until brewing ends.

Capacity Classic moka pot (maker’s figure) Turbo Moka (maker’s figure) Reported reduction
3 cups 158 seconds 106 seconds 33% shorter
6 cups 300 seconds 160 seconds 47% shorter

Three points limit how far these numbers can be carried:

Bialetti Moka Express Iconic Italian Stovetop Espresso Maker (Natural Silver, 6 Cups)
  • The original moka coffee pot: Moka Express is the original stovetop espresso maker, it provides the experience of the real Italian way of preparing a tasteful coffee, its unique shape and the inimitable gentleman with moustache date back to 1933, when Alfonso Bialetti invented it.
  • Made in Italy: it is Made in Italy and its quality is enhanced by the patented safety valve which makes it easy to clean and its ergonomic handle, available in many sizes and suitable for gas, electric and induction (with the Bialetti induction adapter plate)
  • How to prepare the coffee: fill the boiler up to the safety valve, fill it up with ground coffee without pressing, close the moka pot and place it on the stovetop, as soon as Moka Express starts to gurgle, turn the fire off and coffee will be ready
  • One size for each need: Moka Express sizes are measured in Espresso Cups, coffee can be enjoyed in Espresso Cups or in larger containers
  • Cleaning instructions: the Bialetti Moka Express should be rinsed simply with water, after use. Do not use detergents. The product should not be washed in the dishwasher as this could cause damage to the product and affect the taste of the coffee.
  • They cover only the 3-cup and 6-cup sizes. The pages reviewed give no timing for the one-cup TM1, so the one-cup brew time is not established.
  • The pages do not name the classic pot used as the baseline, so you cannot check the comparison against a specific product.
  • The 47% gap at six cups is larger than the 33% gap at three, so a reader’s saving will depend on batch size.

How the design is said to work

The maker’s explanation is that a classic moka pot’s flat base deflects hot gas sideways, while the Turbo Moka’s twelve blades guide heat up the boiler wall. The same technology page says the finned boiler has 2.89 times more metal exposed to the flame than a classic design. That is a manufacturer’s surface-area figure. It describes how much metal the flame meets, and it is not a measured heat-transfer result.

Does the claim hold across sizes and cooktops?

Only the sizes with published timings can be discussed with any confidence, and cooktop compatibility is stated per model. Prices below are as listed on the official product pages when checked in 2026; prices and availability change.

How to compare it fairly with your current moka pot

Bialetti - Mini Express Color: Moka Set includes Coffee Maker 2-Cup (2.8 Oz) + 2 shot glasses, Red, Aluminium
  • Mini Express is the ultimate combination of creativity and innovation, delivering a perfect italian espresso directly in the cups
  • This unmistakable red Bialetti Mini Express features a support plate and two matching Bialetti-branded espresso cups
  • How to use Bialetti Mini Express: fill the boiler with water up to the valve level, fill the basket with coffee and screw the top part firmly on: coffee will brew directly into the incuded cups, resting on a special aluminum plate that warms up during the preparation
  • Bialetti Mini Express size is measured in Espresso Cups, coffee can be enjoyed in Espresso 2 Cups included
  • Cleaning instructions: Bialetti Mini Express must only be cleaned by rinsing every component with simple water, do not use any detergent nor put it in the dishwasher, as it damages the product and the taste of your coffee
  1. Compare pots of the same capacity. A three-cup Turbo Moka should be timed against a three-cup pot, and a six-cup model against a six-cup pot.
  2. Use the same burner, the same flame setting and the same pan placement for both pots.
  3. Fill both with the same amount of water, to the same level below the safety valve, and use the same coffee dose and grind.
  4. Start the timer at ignition and stop it when brewing ends, which the maker defines as the end of the brew.
  5. Run each pot several times and average the results, because a single run can vary with burner heat and room conditions.

Record flavor separately. Neither the maker’s pages nor any independent source reviewed establish that the Turbo Moka tastes better.

What is not established

  • No independent laboratory or third-party test of the timing figures was located. The figures are the company’s own.
  • The pages reviewed do not name an independent expert or official body endorsing the design.
  • No one-cup timing is published for the TM1.
  • Taste, long-term durability and cleaning effort are not covered by any independent source reviewed.

Gaskets, filters and replacement parts

The technology page says the pot uses a standard gasket and filter and that its parts are replaceable. The pages reviewed do not list a replacement part number or a retailer listing. Match any replacement gasket or filter to your exact model and dimensions before ordering, because a part that looks similar may not seal correctly.
