The NWS 1406-69-200 is the model discussed in Make’s review titled “NWS Ergonomic Long-Nose Pliers.” NWS categorizes it as an ErgoMulti electrician’s plier. Its catalog lists a 200 mm (8 in) length, half-round jaws and flush-cut edges; those manufacturer specifications help identify the tool, but are not an independent performance test.
What are the NWS ergonomic long-nose pliers?
They are NWS model 1406-69-200. “Long-nose” is the wording used in Make’s review, while “ErgoMulti electrician’s plier” is NWS’s product category. These labels refer to the same model, not two different tools. Make’s article is an older review, so its buying details should be read as historical context rather than current retail information.
NWS 1406-69-200 specifications
NWS lists the following specifications for this model in its product overview:
| Specification | NWS listing |
|---|---|
| Model | 1406-69-200 |
| Category | ErgoMulti electrician’s plier |
| Length | 200 mm (8 in) |
| Jaw shape | Half-round |
| Cutting edges | Flush-cut |
| Soft-wire cutting capacity | 5.9 mm |
| Medium-hard-wire cutting capacity | 3.8 mm |
| Hard-wire cutting capacity | 2.5 mm |
The cutting capacities are manufacturer ratings, not independent measurements. They do not establish how the pliers will perform on a particular wire, in a specific job, or after wear. Match the model’s listed capacity to the material and task rather than treating the figures as a guarantee for every application.

How does it compare with the alternatives named in the review?
Make’s review identifies a matte-chrome finish option and two wider-jaw alternatives. The source does not establish that these configurations are interchangeable, so check the exact model number and geometry before ordering.
| Model | What the review identifies | How to choose |
|---|---|---|
| 1406-69-200 | Reviewed model; long-nose wording, ErgoMulti category | Consider when the half-round, narrow long-nose profile fits the access and gripping task. |
| 1406-49-200 | Matte-chrome finish option | Check whether this finish is the preference; verify the listing is for this exact model. |
| 1096-69-200 | Wider combination-jaw alternative | Consider if a wider combination-jaw profile better fits the work. |
| 1096-49-200 | Wider combination-jaw alternative | Compare its jaw geometry and finish with the task and the exact listing. |
The practical distinction is geometry and finish: a narrow long-nose profile and wider combination jaws suit different working spaces and gripping needs. The cited sources do not provide a performance comparison or establish that one configuration is superior.
What to verify before buying
- Confirm the listing states the exact model number: 1406-69-200, 1406-49-200, 1096-69-200 or 1096-49-200.
- Check the jaw shape and finish in the product description; do not infer them from a similar-looking photograph or a shortened product name.
- Compare the intended wire type and diameter with NWS’s published capacities for the 1406-69-200.
- Check current price, stock, seller and warranty directly with the retailer or manufacturer. These details are not established by the older review.
Make’s article gives a publication-era price of $35–40 and says two US distributors carried the tool at that time. Those details do not establish today’s price, availability or recommended seller.

The model-specific NWS overview supports the category, length, jaw shape, cutting-edge description and wire-capacity ratings above. It does not establish independent test results or performance in a particular user’s application.
Rank #3
- Power transmission with optimum leverage for easy and effortless work
- Handles with ergonomically shaped SoftGripp multi-component sleeves
- For cutting hard and soft wires
NWS’s separate page for long flat-nose pliers describes SoftGripp multi-component sleeves and forged, oil-hardened tool steel for model 124-69-160. That is a different product, so those construction and handle details should not be attributed to the 1406-69-200. The cited sources also do not establish current stock, price, warranty terms or a current marketplace listing.
