The home’s other reported features included an indoor basketball court, a 95-foot pool and a 17-car garage.
These are historical details about the mansion he later sold, not a description of his current residence.
What was special about Shaq’s bed?
The National’s 2018 photo feature described a 15-foot round bed made for O’Neal’s 7-foot-plus frame, in a bedroom it reported was 900 square feet (The National, 2018). But O’Neal offered an important qualification in a 2012 interview with Vanity Fair. After interviewer John Heilpern remarked on the enormous circular bed and its Superman-logo cover, O’Neal said: “But I can’t take credit for that bed. It was here when I bought the house. That bed right there sold me.” (Vanity Fair, 2012)
Those accounts establish the reported size and O’Neal’s recollection that the bed predated his purchase. They do not resolve who commissioned or customized it, or when. So “custom-made” is best understood as The National’s description, not proof that O’Neal ordered it himself.

What O’Neal said about cars and his habits
In the same 2012 Vanity Fair interview, O’Neal recounted buying three Bentleys impulsively after a dealership employee questioned whether he could afford one. He also said he was too tall to fit in the driver’s seat. This is his anecdote from the interview, not an independently verified purchase record.
