If you’re locked out of a Brinks-branded safe, identify its exact brand, model and lock type, then use the matching manual or the safe maker’s recovery process. Brinks Home’s alarm-system support is not confirmed safe-recovery support. Do not try a generic code or opening sequence: safe procedures vary by model.
Identify the safe and the problem first
Keep the safe closed while you check its exterior label, paperwork and owner’s manual. Record the full brand and model, serial number if shown, and whether it has a mechanical dial or digital keypad. The title alone does not identify a particular safe, and official instructions can differ across models.
Work out what is causing the lockout: a forgotten combination, a missing key, or a possible keypad or power fault. These situations may require different remedies.
Find the matching manual and check for the combination
Start with the manual supplied with the safe. If it is missing, look for the manual on the safe maker’s official site using the model number. Honeywell Safes provides a manual library searchable by model. For a Honeywell safe, check the first or last page of the operating manual for the combination sticker. If it is not there, Honeywell advises contacting customer service.

Do not follow another model’s dial turns, keypad sequence or reset instructions. First Alert’s safe guidance gives different procedures for different safe families, so there is no supported universal opening sequence for an unidentified safe.
Request a replacement key or combination
Honeywell safes
For a lost key on a Honeywell safe bought in 2011 or later, Honeywell’s FAQ directs owners to LH Licensed Products. Be ready to provide the model, serial number and/or key number. The support team may also request identity and proof of purchase or ownership. Check Honeywell’s current support instructions for the applicable process.

First Alert safes
First Alert allows locked-out owners to request a replacement key or combination through an ownership-verification process. Availability depends on the safe; the company says it cannot guarantee replacement availability for some out-of-warranty safes. Follow the current support instructions for your model.
An older First Alert/BRK owner’s manual describes a lost-combination or key process requiring the safe’s model and serial information and a notarized statement of ownership. It also says the preset combination is unique to the safe and printed on its guide. Treat this as historical, model-specific guidance and verify current requirements with First Alert support.

Know when to contact a locksmith
If the correct manual and the safe maker’s support process do not resolve the lockout, contact a licensed safe locksmith. Ask about the service and any costs before arranging a visit. Do not attempt to bypass, drill or pry open the safe; those methods can damage the safe and its contents.
