T-fal’s EZ Clean models filter cooled oil into a storage box; Hamilton Beach’s 35042 uses a spout on a removable oil pot; other models rely on a tank or bowl you remove and empty yourself. Those are different cleanup routines, so compare the oil-handling method—not just an “easy clean” label.
What “oil drain” means on a deep fryer
Product descriptions can use cleanup language for different designs. The key question is whether the fryer filters and stores oil for reuse, gives you a spout for pouring it out, or simply lets you remove the tank or bowl.
- Automatic filtration and storage: The fryer filters oil after it cools and collects it in a separate container.
- Pour spout: You lift out the oil pot and pour from its spout. This can make pouring cleaner, but it is not automatic filtration.
- Removable tank or bowl: You take out the oil container and empty it yourself. Removability can help with washing, but does not by itself mean the fryer has a drain valve or oil-storage system.

Which cleanup design suits your routine?
Choose automatic filtration if you want to store oil for reuse
The U.S. T-fal FR800050 is the clearest match for shoppers looking for a fryer that filters and stores oil: its manufacturer lists a 3.5-liter capacity and an oil box. The Canadian FR800051 description says the unit filters oil after it cools. That delay matters: automatic filtration is not immediate draining while the oil is hot. T-fal Canada says the FR800051’s oil may be reused up to 15 times; that is a manufacturer claim for that model, not an independently verified result or a claim established here for other regional versions.

Choose a pour spout if you prefer manual oil handling
Hamilton Beach describes its 5-liter 35042 as having a removable oil pot with an easy-pour spout, and lists that pot as dishwasher safe. You still pour the oil yourself; the spout is not the same as an automatic filter and storage box. Its larger stated oil capacity may suit larger batches, while the T-fal FR800050’s 3.5 liters may better fit a smaller routine. Capacity alone does not determine which fryer is right for your kitchen.
Choose a removable tank or bowl if washing access is the priority
The T-fal FR600D51 page lists a removable, dishwasher-safe oil tank and other removable components. T-fal’s FR337051 support page describes a 3-liter fryer with a removable bowl and dishwasher-safe removable parts. These are useful cleanup features, but the cited pages do not describe either as an automatic oil-filtration-and-storage design. Check the exact product manual to confirm which parts can be removed and washed.

How to choose without mistaking “easy clean” for “oil drain”
- Decide what happens to used oil. If you want it filtered and stored, look for explicit automatic filtration and an oil container. If you are comfortable pouring oil, look for a removable pot with a spout. If your main concern is washing, check for a removable tank or bowl.
- Match capacity to your batches. The cited examples range from 3 liters on T-fal FR337051 to 5 liters on Hamilton Beach 35042. These are manufacturer specifications for the named models, not a guarantee of cooking results or a recommendation that the largest capacity is best.
- Check every part’s cleaning instructions. A listing may identify only some dishwasher-safe components. Verify the basket, lid, tank or bowl, oil box, and heating assembly against the exact model’s manual; do not assume all removable parts are dishwasher safe.
- Confirm the complete model number and region. T-fal’s U.S. FR800050 and Canadian FR800051 are related EZ Clean examples, but model identifiers and product details are market-specific. Read the listing and manual for the product sold where you live.
Drain and clean the fryer safely
Always follow the manual for your exact fryer. T-fal’s support guidance for FR800051 says to let the fryer cool completely before cleaning, remove food particles, and clean or replace filters regularly. A Hamilton Beach manual for model 35036C says cooling can take several hours and describes unplugging the appliance, waiting for the oil to cool, and letting oil drain back into the pot before removing it. That manual applies to 35036C, not to model 35042; use it as a reminder that the sequence is model-specific.
- Unplug the fryer and wait for the oil and appliance to cool as directed by its manual. Never handle or drain hot oil.
- Use the manual’s steps for lifting or removing the heating assembly, tank, bowl, or oil box. Do not improvise a draining sequence based on a different model’s instructions.
- Remove food particles and clean or replace filters at the intervals specified for your model.
- Dry components thoroughly before reassembling or using the fryer. The Hamilton Beach 35036C manual specifically warns that components must be thoroughly dried before use.
T-fal advises putting used oil in an airtight container, consulting local recycling services, and not pouring it into the sink. Disposal options depend on local services and rules. T-fal’s support guidance is for the FR800051 support page; check your local disposal guidance and the instructions for your own model.
