Do not open the blower or attempt electrical repairs; if the cord, plug or housing is damaged, stop using the unit and contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
Check the simple causes before blaming the motor
A sagging inflatable does not necessarily mean its fan motor is faulty. A blocked intake or power problem can keep it from inflating, while an open closure or fabric leak can let air escape even when the blower runs. Gemmy’s official assembly and troubleshooting guidance identifies power, debris, closures and low temperature as possible causes.
1. Unplug the inflatable
Grip the plug to disconnect it; do not pull the cord. Wait for the fan to stop before inspecting accessible areas. Never inspect or handle the blower while it is energized.
2. Check the outlet and connections
Confirm the outlet works and the plug is fully inserted. If the product uses a manufacturer-supplied adapter, check that connection too. Follow the exact product manual for any fuse check, and never replace a fuse with a different rating.

3. Look for an obstructed air intake
With the unit unplugged, check the accessible intake for leaves, grass or other debris. Remove only what you can reach without opening the motor housing. Gemmy’s instructions for applicable Airblown products suggest gently shaking or tapping a stored unit if debris may be blocking the motor; do not strike or force the housing.
4. Close the openings and look for air loss
Make sure every zipper or other closure is fully secured. If the blower runs but the inflatable remains soft, inspect accessible fabric and seams for damage or escaping air. A leak or open closure can cause poor inflation even if the motor is operating.

5. Check the product’s temperature limits
Use the manual for your exact model. One Gemmy Airblown manual says the motor may temporarily stop below 14°F (-10°C) and work again at higher temperatures; that is guidance for the product covered by that manual, not a universal limit. The same manual lists 120 V, 60 Hz for its named products, which should not be assumed to apply to another brand or region. See Gemmy’s AB-6-E instructions.
Know when to stop troubleshooting
Stop using the inflatable if you find water inside the electrical housing, a damaged cord or plug, a cracked or melted housing, a burning smell, repeated fuse failure, unusual grinding, or other signs of electrical or mechanical damage. Do not bypass a fuse, open a sealed motor or rewire the appliance. The Aosom manual for model IN241100657V01_US_CA_346-017V80 says a fan with a damaged cord or plug should be discarded or returned to an authorized service facility for examination or repair; do not attempt a DIY cord replacement. Consult the manufacturer or a qualified service provider for your product.

Keep the blower and cord protected from water. A Gemmy manual warns against direct water exposure. Separately, the UK Health and Safety Executive issued a 9 July 2013 safety alert about a particular imported blower design in which water could reach live contacts despite the product plate’s claimed compliance. The alert concerns that specific design; it does not establish that all inflatable fans are affected.
When a replacement blower makes sense
Consider a replacement only after checking power, intake, closures and operating conditions and the symptoms still point to blower failure. Contact the original manufacturer or its authorized service facility first to ask about repair or a replacement part. If considering another blower assembly, verify compatibility with the exact inflatable and check:

Do not assume a generic motor, a higher-airflow blower or a unit that merely looks similar is a safe fit. Replacement guidance for holiday inflatables discusses compatible configurations, but does not establish universal interchangeability or a safe internal motor swap. A replacement will not fix a blocked intake, open closure, fabric leak or faulty power supply. Ratings vary by product. For example, one Gemmy manual specifies a 5-amp maximum, 125-volt fuse and says to use the supplied type. That rating applies to the plug and products covered by that manual, not to inflatable decorations generally. Follow the instructions for your exact model rather than substituting a fuse or applying another product’s voltage or temperature limits. See Gemmy’s 36855-E instructions.
