If you already have compatible supports, a net-only model may be enough; otherwise, compare complete sets by installed height, support style and included gear. Start with the court you can set up
Before choosing a net, check the yard surface, usable width and how the system will stay upright. Portable sets use different support arrangements: some rely on lines and stakes, some on anchored poles, and some are designed to stand without ground stakes. A set that is easy to carry may still be a poor fit if its anchoring method does not suit your yard.
- Grass or soil: Check whether the package includes stakes or anchors and whether the ground can take them.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) says ease of setup is essential to making AirBadminton playable in many places. Its guideline identifies 1.55 m posts for grass and hard-surface courts. Know the outdoor height and net specifications
Under the BWF’s 2024 AirBadminton rules, the net height varies by surface and is measured at the sidelines and centre. The rules also specify net length, depth, mesh size and white top tape. BWF AirBadminton rules and resources.

These are AirBadminton rule specifications; they should not be assumed for every recreational net. Also distinguish the size of the net fabric from the height of the net after installation. A product listing may state both, or only one.
Choose between a net-only product and a complete set
Net-only: Park & Sun Sports
Park & Sun Sports lists a 21-foot-by-30-inch regulation-size net for backyard or beach use, with a top rope cable and side pockets. E-Jet Sport lists an 18-foot-by-1.5-foot weather-resistant net, five-foot PVC poles, four rackets, three shuttlecocks and a carrying case. That support approach is worth considering where staking is impractical. The listing is from an Australian retailer, so availability and product details are market-specific. Use this checklist before buying
- Measure the available playing width. Compare it with the stated net width, allowing room for the supports and the space you want around the court.
- Check installed height separately. Do not infer it from the net-fabric dimensions; look for an explicit installed-height claim or confirmation from the seller.
- Match the support to the surface. Confirm whether you need stakes, anchors, guy lines or a freestanding design, and whether that arrangement will work in your yard.
- Account for missing gear. A net-only product requires supports; a complete set may bundle rackets, shuttlecocks, boundary markers and a bag. Check the listing for the exact contents.
- Decide how closely you want to follow AirBadminton dimensions. If that matters, compare the product’s stated installed dimensions with the BWF’s surface-specific rules rather than relying on labels such as “regulation-size.”

Choose a net-only option if you already own compatible supports and have checked the attachment system.
