Figures in the table are specifications published by Makita U.S.A. on its product pages, accessed in 2026—not independent test results or promises of typical household runtime. Runtime depends on the stated battery capacity and power setting.
Choose the XCV19PG for an upright floor-cleaning format
Of these options, the Makita XCV19PG cordless upright most closely matches what many home users mean by a floor vacuum. Makita describes it as its first cordless upright. Its 12-inch cleaning path and four height adjustments are relevant if you want a floor-oriented machine rather than a canister-style tool for occasional cleanup. The upright also has a horizontal adjustment intended to help it reach under furniture.
The XCV19PG is listed as a 36V (18V X2) model, meaning it uses two 18V batteries. Makita’s stated runtime is up to 60 minutes on medium or 30 minutes on high with two 18V 6.0Ah batteries. The product page lists 67 CFM and 48 inches of water lift, plus two-stage HEPA capture rated at 99.97% for particulates 0.3 microns and larger. Those are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish how it performs on a particular carpet, hard floor, or household mess.

Before choosing it, check whether the purchase package includes batteries and a charger or is tool-only. Also consider the upright’s storage footprint and whether its floor-cleaning format fits your flooring and rooms.
Choose the XCV11Z for portable wet/dry cleanup
The Makita XCV11Z is a compact 2-gallon, 18V portable wet/dry vacuum, not an upright for routine whole-floor cleaning. Its wet/dry capability makes it the better match of these three for localized spills or cleanup where a portable vacuum is more useful than a floor head.

Makita lists 57 CFM, 27 inches of water lift, and up to 60 minutes of runtime with one 18V 5.0Ah battery. Its product page specifies HEPA efficiency of 99.97% at 0.3 microns. It also lists a hose, nozzles, and HEPA filter among the included items. The XCV11Z is tool-only, so verify battery and charger contents for the exact package you plan to buy.
Choose the XCV17Z if a backpack dry vacuum fits the job
The Makita XCV17Z is a 1.6-gallon, 36V backpack dry vacuum. Makita positions it for cleaning crews and construction applications. A backpack format may suit work that involves carrying a vacuum between areas, but it is a different proposition from an upright that you push across home floors, and it does not offer the XCV11Z’s wet/dry pickup.

Makita lists 78 CFM and 44 inches of water lift. Its published runtime is up to 139 minutes on normal with two 18V 6.0Ah batteries. The page also specifies HEPA efficiency of 99.97% at 0.3 microns. Treat that runtime as a manufacturer figure tied to the stated batteries and setting, not a general expectation for every task.
Check batteries, package contents, and practical fit
- Match the format to the work: choose the upright for floor cleaning, the portable wet/dry model for localized wet or dry cleanup, or the backpack model for carrying a dry vacuum through larger cleaning or jobsite tasks.
- Check your battery setup: the XCV11Z is an 18V model; the XCV19PG and XCV17Z use two 18V batteries for their 36V platforms. Confirm you own compatible batteries in the needed quantity and capacity.
- Confirm what is in the box: the XCV11Z product page identifies it as tool-only while listing its hose, nozzles, and HEPA filter as included. Check the exact retailer package for batteries and a charger rather than assuming they are bundled.
- Consider capacity and storage: the XCV11Z has a stated 2-gallon gross container and the XCV17Z a 1.6-gallon gross container. The cited XCV19PG page does not state a container capacity. Think about where you will store the machine and how often the expected cleanup would require emptying it.
- Match filtration claims to your needs: each cited product page states HEPA performance, but the XCV19PG describes a two-stage system and specifies capture of particles 0.3 microns and larger. These manufacturer specifications alone do not establish comparative real-world filtration.
What the available specifications can—and cannot—tell you
Airflow, water lift, capacity, and runtime help distinguish the models, but they are not a head-to-head test of floor pickup, noise, maneuverability, or cleaning time. Makita lists 76 dB(A) for the XCV11Z; the cited pages do not provide equivalent noise figures for the other two models. The manufacturer figures therefore should not be treated as a complete comparison of household performance.
