TEMPUR-Ergo, Premier, Ease, Smart, and older bases do not all use the same procedures, so follow the manual for your exact model.
Identify your base and remote first
Find the model name on your base paperwork or use Tempur-Pedic’s “Which Adjustable Base remote do I have?” guide to identify the remote and locate the matching manual. You can also check Tempur-Pedic’s owner’s manuals page. This matters because a reset or pairing sequence for one TEMPUR-Ergo model may not apply to another generation.
Start with power, wiring, and anything blocking movement
Tempur-Pedic’s general advice for a base that has stopped operating is to check the power supply and connections before troubleshooting the remote.
- Confirm the base’s power cord is fully plugged in at the outlet and power supply.
- Look beneath the base for loose connections, cords caught in moving parts, or bedding obstructing movement.
- Check whether the control-box LED is lit. If it is dark, recheck the input and power-cord connections.
- Unplug the base for 60 seconds, then reconnect it. This resets electronic components; it does not guarantee a mechanical or electrical fault is fixed.
- Test the outlet with another working appliance, or try a different outlet. Tempur-Pedic suggests using a grounded surge protector when checking an outlet.
These checks follow Tempur-Pedic’s general adjustable-base troubleshooting guidance. If the base has no power indications, concentrate on the outlet, cord, connections, and control-box light before assuming the remote is at fault.

If the base has power but ignores the remote
Check batteries and child lock
Make sure the batteries are seated in the correct direction and replace them if needed. Then check whether the remote’s child lock is enabled. Tempur-Pedic’s child-lock instructions cover certain Ease, Ergo, and Ergo Extend remotes and distinguish between orange-and-white and black-and-white warning labels. Inspect the label and follow the matching directions on the official child-lock guide; do not assume one unlock sequence fits every remote.
Re-pair a TEMPUR-Ergo Power Base remote
Use this sequence only for the TEMPUR-Ergo Power Base covered by Tempur-Pedic’s pairing instructions. The original remote is paired at the factory, but it can be paired again as follows:

- Unplug the base’s power cord and wait one minute.
- Reconnect the power cord.
- Within 10 seconds, press and hold the remote’s PAIR button while the control-box light flashes.
- Release the button when the PAIR light stops flashing, then test the remote’s functions.
If your base is a different model, use its manual instead of this sequence.
Reset a TEMPUR-Ergo Premier base
Tempur-Pedic says a system reset returns the Premier system to its zero position. Its listed reasons for resetting include a component being removed, tandem bases no longer working in sync, a power outage during tandem operation, or a system error. This procedure is specific to the Premier guidance on the Premier reset page:

- Press and hold FLAT on the remote. After about 15 seconds, the display changes from FLAT to RST.
- Keep holding FLAT for another 30–60 seconds while the base moves forward and backward.
- Wait until there have been no audible clicks or movement for at least 10 seconds; that marks completion.
- Test the base. You may need to reconnect the remote after the reset.
For the Premier remote/base configuration addressed by Tempur-Pedic’s remote-reset instructions, the manufacturer also calls for fresh batteries and unplugging the base for about 60 seconds before the FLAT/RST reset and a final function check. Follow the instructions that match your specific Premier setup.

The TEMPUR-Ergo Premier owner’s manual describes an emergency power-down button on the power supply that can move the bed toward flat during a power failure. This is not established as a feature on every Tempur-Pedic base. Check the manual for your exact model and confirm the installed power-supply configuration before relying on an emergency-lowering procedure.

When to contact Tempur-Pedic
If the power and remote checks do not restore operation—or the model-specific reset does not resolve a Premier system error—consult the exact manual and contact Tempur-Pedic customer service for your region. The manufacturer advises having the serial number available; it may be on the warranty card or the back of the remote. Start with its troubleshooting page for the applicable support route.
