A stainless steel multitool can put a wrench, blade and other useful implements within reach, but no single tool set or carry setup is standard. Compare the exact manufacturer tool list, blade and implement locks, dimensions, weight, and whether a belt sheath or clip is included. The examples below show why the details matter: one has a hex wrench and sheath but no listed blade, while others include blades but differ in how they attach to a belt.
What tools can a belt-carried multitool include?
Tool combinations vary by model. For construction and general carry, start with the jobs you expect to handle—such as turning a fastener, cutting material, stripping wire or opening packaging—and confirm each implement on the manufacturer’s current listing. A tool’s name alone does not establish that it is suitable for every job or load.
5.11 EDT: hex wrench and belt carry
5.11 lists a standard 6 mm hex wrench, flat-head screwdriver, bottle opener, pry tool, wire stripper, and metric and imperial rulers. The stainless-steel tool measures 72 × 20 mm and is listed with a Kydex sheath and carabiner. The cited product page does not list a knife blade, so it is not an example of a wrench-and-blade combination. See 5.11’s EDT listing.
Leatherman Skeletool: blade and clip
Leatherman lists pliers, wire cutters, a 420HC combo knife, a carabiner/bottle opener, and a large bit driver. Its stated specifications are five ounces, 10.16 cm closed length, and a 6.6 cm primary blade. The blade locks. A removable pocket clip is listed, while the sheath is sold separately; do not assume a belt sheath comes with it. See Leatherman’s Skeletool listing.

Check the carry setup before putting it on your belt
A pocket clip, belt-loop pouch and sheath are different carry options. Verify that the hardware is included, suits your belt and gives you the access you want; a separately sold sheath may add cost and may need to be matched to the exact tool. 5.11 also states that its carabiners are not intended for climbing or for any safety applications. Treat that warning as applying to the carabiner, not as a general safety rating for multitools.
