A Samsung Community moderator answering this exact model question says the DW80R5060US does not appear to have a removable filter. That is community support guidance rather than a statement from the model’s manual. Don’t dismantle or try to pull out a filter based on instructions for other Samsung models; check the manual for your unit if you need to verify its parts. You can still wipe accessible debris around the drain area and any visible filter housing.
Clean the accessible interior and door
- Empty the dishwasher. Remove dishes and any rack accessories that obstruct access.
- Wipe loose debris from the tub and drain area. Use a damp cloth. Samsung’s general cleaning advice recommends warm, soapy water for the drain area and filter housing where applicable; do not remove parts unless the exact-model manual instructs you to.
- Clean the door and seal. Samsung suggests a damp cloth with white vinegar for the door seal and warm, soapy water for the bottom of the door. Wipe gently, then remove loosened residue.
- Check visible spray-nozzle holes. If a hole is blocked, gently clear it with a thin object such as a toothpick. Don’t dismantle the spray arms unless the manual for your unit says to.
The DW80R5060US has a stainless-steel interior. Samsung warns: “Do not use bleach in a dishwasher with a stainless steel interior, as it may damage or discolor the interior.” Avoid bleach inside the tub.
Choose an empty cleaning cycle
There are two supported approaches. Use one cleaning agent at a time: never combine detergent and vinegar.

The moderator’s model-specific routine names Normal or Express 60 and Sanitize or Self Clean. Samsung’s 2019 specification sheet lists Normal, Express 60 and Sanitize among the model’s options. Confirm the available settings and instructions on your own control panel or in the exact-model manual.
Samsung’s general odor-cleaning article also mentions chlorine-based dishwasher cleaner, but its bleach warning for stainless interiors means bleach should not be used inside this model. For any cleaner, follow its label and avoid combining products.

Finish by drying and airing the dishwasher
After the cycle, wipe away residue or loosened debris. Leave the door slightly open if practical so moisture can escape. Samsung’s DW80R5060 specification sheet lists an AutoRelease Door feature, which opens the door automatically at cycle end to help circulate air and improve drying.
Use dishwasher detergent and rinse aid correctly
Samsung’s detergent instructions include the DW80R5060. Use detergent intended for automatic dishwashers, not hand-dishwashing liquid, and fill the detergent compartment as directed. For rinse aid, use liquid and do not fill the reservoir above its full indicator; Samsung says powdered rinse aid can clog the opening.

Samsung says detergent pods need water at a minimum of 120°F to dissolve completely, subject to any higher temperature specified by the pod maker. That is detergent-use guidance, not a cleaning-cycle temperature setting to change for maintenance.

A persistent smell may come from the connected sink drain or garbage disposal rather than the dishwasher tub. Samsung advises checking that connection if cleaning does not resolve the odor. Also note whether a large amount of water remains after a cycle, or whether an error code or blinking lights appear. Samsung says a small amount of water left over is normal; for persistent drainage symptoms, consult the model-code manual lookup or contact Samsung Support.
