When parked, the section is pulled out manually on rails, creating room for a large sofa, TV and coffee table. New Atlas reported the design and specifications on February 5, 2025; those details and its price should be treated as reported figures, not a current quote or independently verified measurements.
How the Settler’s slide-out works
The living-room extension moves along rails and is operated by hand, in a manner New Atlas describes as similar to pulling out a large drawer. It is intended to expand the room while the home is parked. The report does not specify the extension’s dimensions, setup requirements or whether it can be operated in any particular weather conditions.
Adam Williams described it in New Atlas’s February 5, 2025 article as “a single-floor tiny house that boosts available floorspace with a slide-out section.” The expanded area is described as large enough for a sofa, television and coffee table.
Reported dimensions and floor plan
New Atlas reports the Settler as 9 m (30 ft) long, with a standard width of 2.5 m (8.2 ft) and 24.5 sq m (263 sq ft) of interior area. These are the publication’s reported figures, not independent measurements. The report does not clarify how the slide-out affects the stated interior-area figure.
The home is arranged on one level, with the sleeping area across from the bathroom rather than in a loft. New Atlas describes the layout as follows:
- Living room: Entry is through sliding glass doors. The slide-out extends this area for larger seating and a TV.
- Kitchen: Beside the living room, it is reported to have an oven, electric cooktop, storage and a breakfast bar for two. Space is available for a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.
- Bathroom: A sliding door connects the kitchen area to a bathroom with a flushing toilet, shower and vanity sink.
- Bedroom: Across from the bathroom, it has standing headroom, a queen-size bed with integrated storage, wardrobes and a skylight with an electric blind.
Price and available options
New Atlas reported a starting price of AUD 148,060 (approximately US$93,000 using the article’s conversion) on February 5, 2025, and said the final cost varies with options. This is a dated reported starting price, not a current quote; the article does not provide option pricing or establish current availability.

Options mentioned include a deck, choices of materials and off-grid equipment: a composting toilet, solar panels and water tanks. The report gives no tank capacities, solar performance figures or other technical specifications for those options.

The New Atlas article attributes the design details to Häuslein, but it is secondary reporting rather than an independent inspection or test. It does not establish transport or installation requirements, local building-code compliance, current specifications, or whether the model and listed options remain available. Anyone assessing a purchase would need current details directly from the maker, particularly for the slide-out’s dimensions and operation, configured price, and local approvals.
