Whether you can silence a Samsung washer—and which control to use—depends on its model and market. Start with the user manual for your exact model: Samsung says a washer whose manual has no sound-off instructions does not have that feature. The controls below are examples from Samsung support, not universal button combinations.
Find the sound control for your model
Check the manual and the labels on your washer’s control panel before trying a button combination. Depending on the model, sound settings may be available through a dedicated button, a secondary button function, a screen menu, or SmartThings.
Dedicated button or secondary function
Some US models have a dedicated Alarm Off control. On others, the sound setting is a secondary function under Super Speed or Extra Rinse; Samsung’s US guidance says to hold the relevant button for three seconds. Samsung Canada also lists Temp as a possible button. Look for a sound label beneath the button or a crossed-speaker icon, and follow the manual for your washer rather than assuming a listed button applies to it. AI Panel menu
For the AI Panel models covered by Samsung India, hold the indicated control for three seconds, turn the navigation dial to Alarm, then select On or Off. Samsung notes that the method varies by model, so use the corresponding instructions in your manual. Samsung India’s AI Panel instructions were updated August 30, 2024.

SmartThings or a screen panel
On compatible connected washers, the SmartThings appliance card may include a Sounds switch or volume slider; some models also offer a choice of end-of-cycle alarm. If the control is absent, Samsung says the washer may still have a panel-based sound setting, or it may not support sound adjustment. For Bespoke models with a screen panel, Samsung US says sound choices are in Settings. App and menu availability depends on the washer model.
Know what muting changes
Turning off alarm sounds does not necessarily silence every sound. Samsung US says the setting can disable the cycle-completion melody and power-off sound while leaving button sounds on. Samsung India says other notifications, including Child Lock, can remain active. Some sounds are part of normal or important appliance operation, so do not treat an alarm setting as a way to disable all washer sounds. Samsung India’s guidance describes the notifications that may remain.

If your panel does not match these examples
- Search the manual for “sound,” “alarm,” “chime,” or “end-of-cycle melody.” Use the manual for the exact model and country.
- Do not hold a button just because it appears in another model’s instructions. A secondary function applies only when the button or manual identifies it.
- If no sound-off procedure appears in your manual, Samsung’s US guidance says your model does not support the feature.
- If the procedure is present but does not work, check the manual for any model-specific sequence before trying another control.
Samsung’s Australia support page also emphasizes model variation and gives panel examples; its instructions apply to the models and market it covers. Samsung India and Australia say the setting persists after restart for the models in their instructions, but that should not be assumed for every washer. Samsung Australia’s instructions.
