The ZEN is a modular multitool from Ant Design—not a product identified as being made by Snap-on Incorporated. Its implements attach to a bar inside the handle, so you can change the tool mix to suit a task rather than carry one fixed setup. That flexibility may appeal when jobs call for different cutting, opening, filing or driving tools, but the available modules and current stock should be checked before buying.
How the ZEN’s interchangeable tools work
New Atlas described the ZEN as a compact, Swiss-Army-knife-style folder. Its implements hook onto a bar inside the chassis. To remove one, the article says to open it, wiggle and pull it free, then fit another. The author noted that removal could be awkward for people with short nails; this was an observation, not a controlled usability test. Ant Design’s current product page describes interchangeable modules and independently locking implements.
The side scales are detachable, and New Atlas reported that the pocket clip could be replaced with a third-party clip. Ant Design lists scale options on its product page.

The article also describes a pocket clip, a locking mechanism and a magnetic driver holder that carries one bit when the tool is closed. Ant Design says the driver is compatible with standard 1/4-inch bits. These are source descriptions, not independent performance or durability tests.
Which other modules were described?
New Atlas reported optional modules in 2024, including a longer saw, serrated blade, scissors, ruler, other file styles, can opener, hex wrenches, and bike- and fishing-oriented tools. That list reflects the article’s 2024 description; it does not establish that every option is still offered. Ant Design’s product page describes tool options, but check the current listing or ask the seller about the specific module you need.

Dimensions and current availability
New Atlas reported a closed length of just over 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) in 2024. Ant Design’s current product page lists dimensions of 90 × 19.5 × 17 mm. These are figures from different sources; the available information does not establish that they refer to precisely the same configuration or measurement method. The official page showed the base ZEN out of stock on October 8, 2026. An accessories collection listing does not confirm that a particular module is in stock.
What the crowdfunding record does—and does not—show
On Kickstarter, the 2024 campaign ran from June 5 through July 10 and recorded 666 backers and US$73,046 pledged against a US$5,000 goal. Those are campaign pledge figures, not a count of units shipped or current sales. The campaign listed a pledge level starting at $49 and individual add-on implements at $7–$10, with shipping planned for November 2024. Those historical terms are not current retail prices and do not verify that the planned shipping date was met.

Is a configurable multitool useful for construction work?
The practical appeal is being able to choose which implements travel in the handle. A blade, file, saw, awl or bit driver may suit different light-duty tasks, while a dedicated tool remains the appropriate choice when a job calls for a specific capacity, safety rating or sustained performance. The cited descriptions do not establish the ZEN’s load limits, jobsite durability or suitability as a substitute for purpose-built construction tools.
Before relying on it for a particular task, confirm that the needed module is available, that its dimensions and bit compatibility fit your intended use, and that the locking arrangement works for your handling needs. Ant Design’s product claims about materials and locking are brand statements; the available sources do not provide independent strength or safety testing.
