Which home was sold, and when?
The property was the couple’s home in Los Feliz, Los Angeles. Architectural Digest reports that Mendes bought it in 2008 for $3.2 million and that the couple sold it in 2018 for $4.9 million. Architectural Digest’s property coverage gives the broader timeline.
Later coverage did not announce a new sale. On December 31, 2021, Just Jared reported that the Los Feliz home had sold for $4.9 million and described it as the couple’s main residence for roughly a decade. Just Jared’s 2021 report is retrospective coverage of the earlier transaction.
Was the sale exactly $5 million?
No. “$5 million” is a rounded headline figure. Architectural Digest and Just Jared report $4.9 million; Traded gives a more precise transaction figure of $4,913,000 in its 2022 report. Traded’s transaction report provides that exact amount.

Did they sell the house to move away from Hollywood?
The sources connect the family’s departure from Los Angeles with a reported preference for living farther north, away from Hollywood, but they do not confirm that this was the reason for the 2018 sale. In 2024, Architectural Digest relayed an unnamed source quoted by People saying, “They left LA to live a bit further north, away from Hollywood.” That is a secondhand account, not a statement from Gosling or Mendes, and it does not establish a direct link between the later move and the earlier sale. People’s family-life report is the source of the account as relayed by Architectural Digest.
What is known about their current home?
These reports do not establish a precise current address. They describe the family as having left Los Angeles to live farther north, but do not provide a verified current residence. There is no need to infer or identify a private address to understand the sale.
