The distinction matters for construction planning: one is a standalone grill, while the other must be integrated into a suitable outdoor-kitchen layout. The announcement’s prices are historical, and current retail availability for the Flagship XL is not confirmed by the official materials reviewed here.
How the two recteq grills differ
The Flagship XL 1400 was presented as a larger freestanding model. The E-Series Built-In 1300 was presented as a grill for permanent outdoor kitchens. They are not simply two sizes of the same installation: the built-in model is the relevant option when planning an integrated cooking station, while the XL is a standalone grill. Engadget’s March 14, 2024 announcement coverage describes both models.

Flagship XL 1400: a large freestanding grill
Engadget described the Flagship XL as a larger version of recteq’s recently updated Flagship 1100. Its reported 1,437 square inches of cooking area include a second grate, and its 60-pound hopper is a model-specific capacity reported in 2024. The article also reported a 180–650°F operating range and app controls for adjusting cooking temperature and monitoring internal food temperatures. These are announcement-era specifications, not independent test results.
Recteq’s support site still provides a Flagship XL 1400 support page with a manual dated April 25, 2024, an assembly video, and warranty documentation dated March 15, 2024. That confirms the model has support materials; it does not establish that the grill is currently in stock or still being sold.

E-Series Built-In 1300: plan around the outdoor kitchen
The E-Series was the announcement’s built-in option for a permanent outdoor kitchen. Engadget reported stainless-steel construction, 1,300 square inches of cooking space, removable secondary grates, front-fill hopper access, and an A-frame-shaped drip pan with a cast-iron heat deflector. It reported a 180–700°F range and app compatibility with dual-band Wi-Fi. Recteq’s current Master Grill Guide continues to list the E-Series Built-In 1300 and specifies 304 stainless steel, 1,300 square inches of cooking area, Wi-Fi, the 180–700°F range, and a six-year bumper-to-bumper warranty. Those are manufacturer-listed specifications and warranty terms.
Because it is intended to be built into an outdoor kitchen, confirm the current manufacturer documentation before designing cabinetry or counters around it. The announcement does not provide cutout dimensions, ventilation requirements, clearances, or local installation requirements. Verify those details for the exact unit and site before construction; do not infer them from the cooking area or the model name.

What is known about current lineup and pricing
The 2024 prices—$1,599 for the Flagship XL and $3,499 for the E-Series Built-In—are launch-era prices reported by Engadget, not verified current offers. Recteq’s current guide lists the E-Series Built-In 1300 and shows the Flagship 1600 in its large-smoker category, but the visible lineup does not display the Flagship XL 1400. The support page’s manual and warranty resources do not resolve whether the XL is currently available for purchase or discontinued. Check recteq or a retailer for live stock and pricing before making a buying decision.
