A “Please Do Not Enter” sign asks people to stay out of a marked space. It can suit a construction or work area, but the wording should make clear who may enter and any conditions for access. What does a “Please Do Not Enter” sign mean?
It communicates an entry restriction. “Please” makes the wording courteous, while alternatives such as “DO NOT ENTER” and “NO ENTRY” sound more direct. Match the format to the site and duration
Catalog examples include rigid signs, adhesive labels, and a temporary barricade. A barrier can mark a movable boundary; its product listing alone does not establish that it replaces any safety control required at a site. The examples below describe available types, not a durability ranking or suitability certification.

Checklist before choosing a sign
- Access rule: State whether entry is prohibited or limited to named groups, and make any exception explicit.
- Visibility: Consider where the sign will be placed and how far away people need to read it.
- Duration: Decide whether the restriction is permanent, recurring, or temporary.
- Exposure: Check whether the location is indoors or outdoors and what conditions the product listing says it is designed for.
- Mounting: Confirm that the attachment method suits the surface and location.
- Site requirements: Check the rules and safety needs that apply to your specific worksite and jurisdiction. A product label such as “OSHA-format” does not, by itself, prove that the sign meets every applicable requirement.
