Motor ratings
The author described the installed motor as a 1 hp, 180 V, 4 A permanent-magnet DC motor rated at 4,000 rpm, and associated it with catalog identifier C8APA1. A later eBay UK listing for C8APA1, last updated February 13, 2026, describes a 180 V, 1.5 hp, 4,000 rpm treadmill motor. That marketplace description does not independently confirm the motor installed in the project or establish controller compatibility, so the horsepower discrepancy remains unresolved.
What troubleshooting did the author report?
The author said that shorting a potentiometer input to ground could make the motor run at full speed. They later reported that an attempted potentiometer wiring arrangement did not restore operation. This is a participant-reported observation, not a safe bypass method or a general instruction for this controller.

The author also said C10 looked bulged and tried replacing it. The thread gives no capacitor value, confirms no root cause, and reports no successful repair. It therefore does not show that replacing C10 solved the fault or that the capacitor was the cause.
Can you bypass the control board or wire in a 10 kΩ potentiometer?
The thread cannot answer either question safely. It does not verify what L, W, H, H, or M do, whether the PWM board accepts a potentiometer directly, or what electrical characteristics its control input requires. Connecting a potentiometer based only on these labels—or grounding an input to force a response—could cause unintended motor operation and may damage equipment.
