Construction began in October 2023, was completed in December 2024, and the course reopened on 16 December 2024. The venue now offers an 18-hole course, a two-level driving range with 30 interactive bays, and a new pavilion with hospitality facilities.
When did construction start, and when did the course reopen?
The City of Stirling announced in September 2023 that it had awarded the redevelopment contract to Cooper and Oxley Group Pty Ltd, with construction scheduled to begin in October. The City later confirmed that construction began that month. Its original announcement projected completion in summer 2024, but the project was completed in December 2024 and the course reopened on 16 December 2024.
The City described the completed redevelopment as a $20 million project in its 9 December 2024 reopening announcement. City of Stirling: Hamersley golf course is back
What was included in the redevelopment?
The approved plan covered more than the driving range: it included a new pavilion, hospitality and function facilities, parking and access upgrades, and improvements to the golf and practice facilities. The City’s reopening information and current venue page describe the principal facilities now available.

A two-level, 30-bay driving range
The City identifies the range as having 30 automated, interactive bays across two levels. It reported that bays include Inrange ball tracking, digital simulation and game options, seating, and food and drink service. The range lets visitors use technology-enabled practice and game modes without changing the course’s 18-hole format.
A new pavilion and visitor services
The completed pavilion includes a pro shop and hospitality facilities. The City’s reporting describes a bar and kiosk, restaurant, and function space. These additions broaden the site’s role beyond a place to play a round or practise at the range.

Course, access and practice improvements
The pre-construction scope also referred to course and practice-facility improvements, practice greens, and access, path and wayfinding work. These were part of the plan; the City’s reopening announcement focused more specifically on the range and pavilion, so the planned scope should not be mistaken for a detailed inventory of every completed course change.
What can visitors use now?
The City’s current venue page lists an 18-hole course and the 30-bay interactive range. It also provides live information about tee times, range bookings and operating details, and says golf carts and pull trolleys are available for hire. Hours, prices, booking conditions and availability can change, so check the City of Stirling’s Hamersley Public Golf Course page before visiting.

What recognition and visitor figures has the City reported?
In 2025, the City reported project awards from IPWEA WA and UDIA WA. Those awards are recognition of the redevelopment, not evidence that the course is objectively the best in the state.
A City video description published on 11 July 2025 said more than 271,000 visitors had attended since reopening. This is a cumulative figure reported at that date, not a current 2026 total. Before the redevelopment, Golf Australia described the course as receiving more than 100,000 visitors each year; that earlier annual figure is not directly comparable with the later cumulative count.
The City’s 2024 annual report also said solar panels and LED fixtures were expected to reduce carbon emissions by 25 per cent. That was a projection, not a reported measurement of the reduction achieved.
