“Maytag Commercial Technology” is a feature label, not a specific washer model, so the right troubleshooting steps depend on the complete model number. Find that number and use the matching Maytag owner’s manual before interpreting lights, error codes, cycle behavior, or replacement-part compatibility. The checks below explain common symptoms, with control behaviors identified as specific to the cited manual rather than universal to all Maytag washers.
Identify the washer before troubleshooting
Maytag says Commercial Technology appears on select laundry products; the label alone does not identify a particular control panel or diagnostic procedure. Find the complete model number on the washer and search for its matching documentation through Maytag’s manuals and literature page. Maytag’s washer and dryer overview describes the feature across select products, not as one model family with one set of controls.
Before checking anything, note the washer’s model number, whether it is top-load or front-load, the exact symptom, where in the cycle it occurs, and any displayed code or blinking light. The operating examples below come from Maytag Washer Owner’s Manual W10755025. Use them only if that manual covers your washer; the Top Load Washer Quick Start Guide W11354859 likewise directs owners to model-specific instructions because features vary.
If the washer fills but does not continue
On the control design covered by Owner’s Manual W10755025, a cycle may pause if the lid is open when filling stops. Close the lid, then press Start/Pause to resume. The manual states that if the cycle is not continued within 10 minutes of the washer filling, it will pump out the water. That 10-minute behavior is specific to the manual’s covered models, not a universal Maytag timer.

The manual also describes sensing at the start of a cycle. A pause or change in sound during sensing does not, by itself, establish a motor or control-board failure. Check the matching manual’s cycle description before treating a brief pause as a fault.
If the lid-lock light is blinking or the lid seems locked
In the W10755025 manual, a steady Lid Lock indicator means the lid is locked; a blinking indicator means the washer is paused. If the controls match that manual, press Start/Pause and wait for washer movement to stop before opening the lid. The manual warns that after a high-speed spin, stopping can take several minutes. If your light labels or control behavior differ, follow your washer’s manual rather than applying this interpretation.

What holding Start/Pause does on the cited controls
For the control design in Owner’s Manual W10755025, holding Start/Pause for more than three seconds cancels the cycle and drains the washer. This is different from a brief press to resume a paused cycle. Do not assume that the same press duration has the same effect on an unidentified Maytag model.
If the washer needs cleaning
Maytag’s MVW7232HW product page names an affresh washing machine cleaner tablet or liquid chlorine bleach as options for cleaning the washer interior. Cleaning is maintenance, not a general remedy for a washer that will not fill, drain, or spin. Check the manual for your model’s cleaning cycle and directions, and use the cleaning product as directed.
