A later amendment seeking to increase its student capacity is still under assessment. The site is near UWA’s Crawley campus, but the available sources do not establish an opening date.
Where is the student housing development?
The site is at 37–43 Stirling Highway, on the corner of Williams Road in Nedlands. PerthNow’s report of 28 November 2024 placed it about 500 metres from UWA’s Crawley campus. The project is described as student accommodation near UWA; the sources do not provide a measured distance to the QEII medical precinct.
What was proposed, and what was approved?
When the application was advertised for public comment in November 2024, PerthNow described Centurion’s proposal as a $60 million, 19-storey mixed-use development with capacity for up to 472 students. The report said the plans included communal living and recreation areas, basement parking, and streetfront retail and commercial opportunities. Those details describe the proposal at that time, not the later amendment.
The Department of Planning’s current significant-development listing records that the Statutory Planning Committee approved the development on 7 May 2025. The City of Nedlands’ 2026 description of the approved scheme lists 472 student beds across 440 units, alongside a 107-square-metre commercial tenancy.

What does the amendment seek to change?
The Department’s project listing says an amendment is under assessment. It seeks to increase capacity from 482 to 513 student beds through revised layouts on levels 2–17 and changes to operable and fixed windows on part of the façade. The listing says the amendment does not propose a change to the approved building height.
The amendment page’s starting figure of 482 beds differs from the City’s 2026 description of the approved scheme as 472 beds across 440 units. These figures come from different official descriptions and should not be treated as interchangeable: 472 is the City’s figure for the approved scheme, while 482 is the baseline stated on the Department’s amendment listing.

What facilities and parking are in the approved scheme?
The City’s 2026 description lists study areas, a small café, laundry facilities and communal lounges, as well as the commercial tenancy. It also specifies 11 basement parking bays, bicycle parking and a pick-up/drop-off bay. These are the City’s details for the approved scheme; they do not establish what changes, if any, might be made if the amendment is approved.

City of Nedlands minutes from March 2026 record approval of temporary road closures related to development works, with arrangements scheduled through 28 February 2028. That indicates works-related planning, but it does not confirm a construction completion or opening date. The sources reviewed also do not establish that the building is accepting bookings.

What the project’s housing rationale does—and does not—show
PerthNow quoted a developer’s report saying the project would add housing options for students, particularly regional and international students, near public transit and local amenities. That is the developer’s stated rationale as reproduced in the article, not an independent finding about housing demand or the scale of growth across the UWA–QEII precinct. The project-specific figures establish the proposal and planning status, not a precinct-wide growth rate.
