Yes—Texas already has completed 3D-printed homes, and more projects have been announced. Lennar says its 100-home Genesis Collection at Wolf Ranch in Georgetown was completed with ICON in 2025. Other examples include homes in Austin’s Mueller neighborhood and a fractional-ownership resort project near Lake Travis. In these projects, “3D-printed” generally describes how the walls are made, not a whole house produced in one operation.
Where are 3D-printed homes in Texas?
Georgetown: Wolf Ranch’s Genesis Collection
Lennar says the Genesis Collection at Wolf Ranch is a 100-home community completed with ICON in 2025. Its Texas page describes wall systems printed on site by a robotic printer rather than framed with lumber. The homes were designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group); Lennar lists eight floorplans and 24 elevations, ranging from 1,574 to 2,112 square feet, with three or four bedrooms. Austin: Mueller
ICON’s March 2025 announcement described a dozen two-story homes in Mueller, with plans ranging from 650 to 2,400 square feet and one to three bedrooms. The announced price range ran from the mid-$300,000s to over $1 million. ICON said one-bedroom homes would be included in Mueller’s Affordable Homes Program for income-qualified buyers. Lake Travis: Canyon Club
ICON announced five 3D-printed homes at The Canyon Club, a resort community on Lake Travis. The April 2025 announcement described 3,400-square-foot, four-bedroom homes and fractional ownership shares starting in the low $400,000s. The described share buys one-eighth ownership and six weeks of annual use; it is not the price of an entire home. ICON reports that three 3D-printed student-housing homes were completed in McGregor in 2025 with Texas A&M AgriLife Research and QuadTex. Its newsroom also records a 2024 announcement of 100 additional 3D-printed homes for Community First! Village in Austin. These projects extend the technology beyond conventional for-sale subdivisions, including institutional housing and a community serving people coming out of chronic homelessness. What “3D-printed home” means on a construction site
A robotic construction system deposits material in layers to form walls. Lennar says the Wolf Ranch walls were printed on site. ICON’s system uses a cement-based mortar for structural walls, according to a July 2026 Axios report. That does not mean the printer delivers a finished, move-in-ready house: plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, windows, and finishing still involve conventional construction work. Source: Axios Austin
The distinction matters when considering cost. A wall system is one component of a home, and University of Texas architecture professor Kory Bieg told Axios that framing is among the least expensive parts of a house. A percentage saving on walls therefore cannot be applied to the full home price. ICON’s March 2026 Titan announcement put its target wall-system cost at roughly $20 per square foot and described that as a potential 40% reduction against national industry-reported conventional wall-system averages. A University of Texas housing production report says approaches including 3D printing can reduce variability in the building product and accelerate project timelines. The published figures describe different products and come from different dates. They are not a like-for-like price comparison.

Before comparing a quote with a conventionally built home, check what it actually buys: the specific address and floor area, whether it includes the land or only an ownership share, included systems and finishes, HOA or resort costs, financing terms, completion status, and applicable local approvals. Ask the project operator for current availability and written pricing.

Confirm the actual scope of the build
Ask which components are printed and which are conventionally installed. Get the specifications for mechanical systems, windows, finishes, solar equipment if offered, and any included smart-home devices in writing. A product list or feature package can vary, so confirm what is included in the particular home rather than relying on a community-level description.

Check local permitting and inspections
Permitting, inspections, and enforcement depend on the local authority having jurisdiction, and timelines vary by location, according to Lennar. A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Architectural Barriers record for a Lennar single-family residential project shows an estimated cost of $6 million and a status of “Review Complete.” That is a record for one registered project, not blanket state approval for all 3D-printed homes. Compare ownership and ongoing obligations
For a conventional purchase, review the complete purchase terms and community fees. For a fractional resort offering, confirm the ownership documents, use schedule, fees, rental rules, and any restrictions before comparing it with a full home. Do not assume that projected rental income will cover costs or produce a return.
Do not assume performance advantages that have not been established
The available project announcements and reporting do not establish an independent Texas-wide comparison of lifecycle cost, energy use, durability, resale value, or insurance cost for 3D-printed versus conventionally built homes. Evaluate those questions through the specifications, inspections, warranties, and terms for the individual property rather than assuming the construction method settles them.
