Yes—Murray can be a reasonable value-oriented choice if the specific snow blower suits your snow and driveway, and you can confirm its warranty and local parts or service support. Murray’s U.S. site lists gas models in both single-stage and two-stage categories and says its products are sold exclusively at The Home Depot. Those facts describe the lineup and sales channel; they do not establish reliability. There is no independent comparative test or representative failure-rate statistic in the available evidence to support a blanket reliability verdict.
What does Murray offer?
Murray’s U.S. product page lists gas snow blowers in single-stage and two-stage categories. Murray describes its equipment as affordable and efficient and says it is powered by Briggs & Stratton small engines; those are the manufacturer’s own positioning claims, not independent assessments. Murray also says its products are available exclusively at The Home Depot in the U.S. Murray products About Murray
The category page does not provide a complete model-by-model comparison in the reviewed information. Check the exact model’s specifications rather than assuming every Murray has the same capacity or convenience features.
How to tell whether a Murray model fits your property
Match its capacity to your snow and driveway
Compare the machine’s stage, clearing width and intake with the snow you typically get, your driveway’s length and surface, and whether plows leave compacted piles at the end. A single-stage and a two-stage machine are different categories; the right choice depends on the conditions and workload, not the badge alone. Confirm the exact model’s specifications because the brand category page does not establish a complete current comparison.

Check the features you will actually use
Starting method, chute adjustment, drive system, lighting and heated grips can affect convenience, but availability varies by model. For example, Briggs & Stratton’s separate branded 22-inch, 208cc single-stage model lists electric start and remote chute rotation. That example is not a Murray model review and does not show that those features come on Murray machines. Briggs & Stratton 22-inch SnowShredder product information
Compare the whole value proposition
Compare the exact machine’s price, delivery and setup costs, warranty, and capacity with similarly capable alternatives. The cited sources do not provide current Murray prices or an independent competitor comparison, so a brand-level value ranking is not established.

Warranty, parts and service: verify these before buying
Murray’s warranty FAQ, published May 26, 2026, says: “Warranties vary between products and type of equipment, but they generally warrant against defects in material or workmanship.” The FAQ directs owners to the operator’s manual supplied with the machine for its actual warranty terms and recommends contacting a Murray Service Dealer for repair and warranty information. Get the terms for the exact model or SKU rather than relying on a general brand claim. Murray warranty FAQ
Support availability has distinct age cutoffs on Murray’s pages, so do not treat them as one universal cutoff:

- The manuals page says support is unavailable for models built in 2005 or earlier. It provides lookup by model number for operator manuals, illustrated parts lists and wiring diagrams. Murray manuals and parts lookup
- The warranty FAQ says products older than model year 2003 and parts older than 1996 are no longer supported. Murray warranty FAQ
- The general support page also says support is unavailable for models built in 2005 or earlier. For machines purchased through Home Depot, it describes a support route for non-engine service issues and directs engine-related issues to the dealer locator. Murray support
For a used machine—or before committing to a specific older model—look up its model number and confirm that the manual, required parts and appropriate service are available. The different cutoffs refer to different support statements; the exact machine, document or part determines what applies.

The cited manufacturer materials support checking maintenance history and parts availability, but they do not provide an independent inspection protocol. As practical purchase checks, ask for the model number and inspect whether the machine starts and runs, the auger, drive and chute operate, and visible wear or corrosion is acceptable. Check likely replacement parts against the model-specific parts list before buying.

Routine upkeep matters regardless of brand. Briggs & Stratton’s maintenance guide recommends regular maintenance, including oil changes and inspection of maintenance or wear components, and treated fuel for storage. Follow the operator’s manual for the specific machine. If the chute clogs, use a clean tool to clear it—never your hand. Briggs & Stratton snow blower repair and maintenance guide
What the available evidence can—and cannot—say about reliability
The official pages describe product categories, manufacturer positioning, support routes and maintenance guidance. They do not establish a Murray-wide reliability rate, durability statistic or independent comparison with other snow blower brands. A Briggs & Stratton-branded example model’s specifications, or a historical 2016 lineup announcement, cannot establish how durable Murray machines are. Briggs & Stratton’s May 4, 2016 lineup announcement
That means “good brand” is best answered at the model level: judge capacity and features against your property, then weigh the exact price, warranty, condition and realistic access to parts or service. The brand name by itself is not evidence of a reliability advantage.
