Check the origin marking or current manufacturer documentation for the specific appliance.
What LG makes at its Tennessee factory
LG announced plans in 2017 for an 829,000-square-foot home-appliance manufacturing facility near Clarksville, Tennessee. That announcement described a planned facility, not the origin of every product sold under the LG name. LG’s 2017 announcement and a Tennessee state announcement document the investment.
The U.S. International Trade Commission reports that LG began producing large residential washers at the Clarksville plant in late 2018. In 2020, LG said the factory had produced its one-millionth washing machine. That is a company-reported cumulative milestone, not a current annual output figure or a count of all LG appliances made in the United States. The USITC report and LG’s milestone announcement support the washer-specific claim.
What “Made in the USA” means under the FTC standard
A factory’s U.S. address alone does not establish that a finished appliance qualifies for an unqualified Made in USA claim. The FTC’s standard is “all or virtually all” domestic: the product must be assembled in the United States, all significant processing must happen there, and all or virtually all components must be of U.S. origin. The FTC also distinguishes a claim about an entire product from a narrower, substantiated statement about a particular U.S.-made part or process. The wording and context need to make clear what the claim covers, rather than leading consumers to understand it as a claim about the whole appliance. What this does—and does not—tell you about LG models
The documented U.S.-production evidence is specifically about washing machines, including large residential washers. It does not establish that every LG washer is made in Clarksville, nor does it establish the origin of LG refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, or other appliance categories. The available sources do not provide a current, exhaustive model-by-model list of LG manufacturing countries or domestic-content percentages for current models.

If country of origin matters for a purchase, check the marking on the specific unit or ask LG for current documentation tied to its exact model. A brand-level statement that LG operates a U.S. factory is not a substitute for that model- or unit-specific confirmation.
