The WOOD Store Intarsia Snowman Woodworking Plan is a downloadable plan for an 8-inch-tall wooden snowman, and its listing says it includes wall-mounting instructions. The design appeared in WOOD Issue 75 in December 1994; the product page was updated January 16, 2024.

What the WOOD Store plan confirms

The publisher describes a wooden snowman with a warm smile and richly colored woods. Its listing confirms the finished height and wall-mounting instructions, but does not specify a piece count, wood species, stock quantities, blade sizes, or a complete step-by-step sequence. Check the downloadable plan itself for the cut list, material quantities, and build details before buying lumber or tools. The product listing is the source for the exact-title design: WOOD Store Intarsia Snowman Woodworking Plan.

How it differs from Judy Gale Roberts’ I-324 Snowman

I-324 is a separate pattern, not another name for the WOOD Store plan. The official listing describes it as a 3-D, front-and-back snowman intended as a Christmas table centerpiece. Its documented specifications differ substantially:

Detail WOOD Store Intarsia Snowman Judy Gale Roberts I-324 Snowman
Publisher or designer WOOD Store Judy Gale Roberts
Finished size 8 inches tall 12 by 7½ inches
Piece count Not stated in the listing 26 pieces: 18 pieces and 8 rings
Format Listing says the plan includes wall-mounting instructions 3-D front-and-back centerpiece
Documented materials Not stated in the listing Aspen, pink my lady, yellowheart, walnut, and dowels in 1/8-, 3/16-, 3/8-, and 1/4-inch sizes

The I-324 page calls that pattern beginner/intermediate and suggests different blades for softwood, hardwood, and interior lines. Those difficulty and blade recommendations apply to I-324 only; they do not establish the difficulty or tool requirements of the WOOD Store plan. See the I-324 Snowman listing for its specifications.

Choose supplies from the plan you are building

Intarsia uses differently colored and grained woods to form a design, but there is no safe universal shopping list for every snowman pattern. Species, thickness, quantities, dowels, backing, blades, sanding, and finishing requirements depend on the chosen plan. Follow its bill of materials and instructions rather than transferring specifications from a similar-looking project.

  • The WOOD Store listing does not provide its complete materials list, so verify stock species, dimensions, and quantities in the download.
  • I-324’s listed wood palette and blade suggestions are specific to that pattern.
  • A separate snowman-and-owl project lists ¾-inch stock, dowels, plywood backing, scroll-saw blades, 80-, 120-, and 220-grit sandpaper, and a clear finish. These are examples for that project, not requirements for either plan above. Its materials are documented in the Snowman and Owl project document.

Judy Gale Roberts also lists other distinct snowman designs, including “Oh Hoot and Snowman,” a free-standing snowman with an owl, and a separate 3-D Melting Snowman box. Neither is the WOOD Store wall-mount plan; see the free-patterns page for their descriptions.

Check the current listing before purchasing

The WOOD Store page identifies the product as downloadable and provides its publication context, but those details do not establish current availability or the completeness of the downloaded instructions. Confirm that the listing is available and review the plan contents before committing to materials. The page states it was updated January 16, 2024, so availability may have changed since that date.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
